Richard Gutierrez Has Two New Movies To Be Shown One After The Other

WE’RE GLAD Richard Gutierrez is back to doing movies. And he’s doing not just one new movie but two, “The Seduction” with Solenn Heussaff and Sarah Lahbati and “My Lady Boss” with Marian Rivera and Petra Halimuyak. Like what we’ve said before, he seems to have neglected acting in favor of hosting shows like “Survivor Philippines”, environmental docus and now, “Extra Challenge”.

But we’re worried that his two movies will be shown two close to each other. “The Seduction” from Regal Films, is scheduled to open on January 30 while “My Lady Boss” from GMA Films will be a Valentine presentation to open on February 13. We asked Ms. Annette if they’re now bothered about this and she said they’re not. “Magkaiba naman yung dalawang pelikula,” she says. “Sex drama ang ‘Seduction’ and very light romantic-comedy ang ‘My Lady Boss’, so ibang genres talaga.”

Still, we believe “My Lady Boss” will suffer. How many Richard Gutierrez movies will viewers want to watch in a expanse of two weeks? And for sure, when ‘Lady Boss’ opens, ‘Seduction’ will still be showing on its extended run. It’s not only the movies that will get hurt but Richard himself. As of now, he really needs a blockbuster hit to prove that he’s still in the same footing as the likes of John Lloyd Cruz and Dingdong Dantes. Dingdong’s stock really got a big boost when he did movies that paired him with Kris Aquino and Eugene Domingo. Richard’s “Gunaw” episode with Uge in “Valentine Girls” was a big hit with audiences. Maybe they should have made a full length film right away then as an immediate followup.
