Alex Medina Is The Second Son Of Pen Medina To Try Acting

ALEX MEDINA is the second of Pen Medina's two sons who’re also into acting. First is Ping, 29, who now appears in teleseryes. Second is Alex, 27, who is now in four new films no less. He has three entries in competition at the Cinema One Originals Filmfest and one in Cinemanila International Filmfest. What does his dad say about him joining the movies? “He’s very happy that I’m also following in his footsteps,” he says.

He was taking up marketing in San Beda but decided to drop out. “Hindi ko kasi nagustuhan yung course ko. I want to act more.”

His entries in Cinema One are “Palitan”, Director Ato Bautista’s tribute to Peque Gallaga’s “Scorpio Night” set in Raon St., Quiapo; Richard Somes’ “Mariposa sa Hawla ng Gabi” about a woman (Erich Gonzales) searching for her missing sister in 1994; and “Pascalina”, the full length film debut of Pam Miras, an ‘aswang’ story about the psychological journey of a woman named Pascalina, played by newcomer Veronica Santiago. His entry in Cinemanila is “Supremo”, a film on the life of Andres Bonifacio, also directed by Richard Somes, starring Alfred Vargas in the title role.

So what are his roles in these movies? “In ‘Palitan’, boss ko si Mon Confiado at misis ko si Mara Lopez. We get involved in an erotic love triangle. Maraming sexy love scenes. In ‘Pascalina’, I’m the love interest of the lead, Veronica Santiago. ‘Mariposa’ is an action-thriller with Alfred Vargas and Mark Gil. I play the role of a pimp. In ‘Supremo’, I play Procopio, the younger brother of Andres Bonifacio who was killed with him in Bundok Buntis.”
