AS LUCK would have it, both the male and female winners of "Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break" finals held last Sunday, Jeric Gonzales and Thea Tolentino, are from Calamba, Laguna, though they've never met each other before the contest. Other GMA stars from Laguna are Alden Richards and Barbie Forteza. Jeric, 20, is a nursing graduate from the Calamba Doctors College. Thea, 16, is a high school senior at St. Benilde Calamba.
Jeric is said to be a Coco Martin lookalike while some folks say Thea looks like Angel Locsin and Francine Prieto. The question now is whether GMA-7 will succeed in making them real popular matinee idols? Their quest for true stardom is just beginning.
