Let's Say A Prayer For Director Marilou Diaz Abaya

WE HAVE FOND memories of the late Director Marilou Diaz Abaya. We first met her in 1979 when she directed her debut film, “Tanikala”, starring Susan Roces, after coming from a film school in London. Baby K. Jimenez introduced her to us. Since then, she’s very warm to us when she’d see us in the presscons of her movies. We were so happy for her when her “Brutal” emerged as the big winner in the 1980 Metro filmfest. Other films of her that we like are “Moral”, “Karnal”, “May Nagmamahal Sa’Yo”, “Sa Pusod ng Dagat”, “Minsan Pa Nating Hagkan ang Nakaraan”, “Ipaglaban Mo”, “Milagros”, “Bagong Buwan”, “Jose Rizal” and her last work that’s a homage to the Blessed Virgin Mary, “Ikaw ang Pag-ibig”. At only 57, she’s now back home to our Creator after a long battle with the big C. Rest well in the bosom of our lord, Direk Marilou. Let’s pray for the repose of her soul.
