Lorna Tolentino And Jaclyn Jose In Acting Duel In 'Valiente'

TV5’S ‘VALIENTE’ started with both Gina Alajar and Jaclyn Jose in the cast, but Gina quickly died so Jaclyn has been reigning supreme in the acting department as Donya Trining Braganza for four months now. Well, not anymore, since Lorna Tolentino joins the show this week. LT plays Mila Regalado-Arden, sister of Tirso Cruz III who’s looking for her missing son. She’s mad at JC De Vera who plays Gardo Valiente/Nicolas Vallejo.

Direk Joel Lamangan says the show is now an acting showdown for LT and Jacklyn, both multi-awarded actresses. For their first confrontation scene, Joel ordered them to slap each other. LT is quite weary of such scenes after her much-publicized encounter with Chin Chin Gutierrez in an ABS-CBN show, but she has no choice but to obey Direk Joel who said “Ayoko ng dayang sampalan, gusto ko totohanan.”

“So slap each other talaga kami ni Jacklyn ng ubos-tindi,” says LT. “Tinodo na namin sa first take para hindi na ipaulit. Ayun, namanhid ang mga pisngi namin sa lakas ng sampal namin sa isa’t isa.”

“I’m very pleased sa sampalan nila,” says Direk Joel, who has just finished helming a new movie, “Migrante”. “Nakaka-excite tingnan ang dalawang magaling na aktres gaya nila na nagpapaligsahan ng pagalingan sa harap ng kamera. Lalong gaganda ang ‘Valiente’ now that LT has joined the show. In fairness, hindi nagpapaiwan sa kahusayan ang younger members of the cast, from JC and Oyo Sotto to Nadine Samonte, Nina Jose and Roxanne Guinoo.”

Produced by TAPE Inc. with TV5, the show has several fanatic followers who are all eager to follow the amazing twists and turns in the re-telling of the TV drama classic about love and revenge that was given a new dressing for today’s audiences. “Valiente” is aired weeknights right aft “Wiltime Big Time”.
