Dominic Zapata Is Undoubtedly The Busies GMA-7 Director These Days

NO DOUBT Dominic Zapata is the busiest director at GMA now. He’s helming two primetime shows, the current “My Beloved” and the new three-generation soap “Luna Blanca” that will replace “Biritera” starting Monday. On the big screen, he’s also directing “Boy Pick Up” that has a June 6 playdate.

“I hardly rest,” he says. “But mind you, I’m not complaining. Workaholic naman ako, e. Mas masarap ‘to kaysa nakatengga ka lang. Pag natapos ko ang shoot ng ‘Boy Pick Up’, lesser na load ko.”

Raymart Santiago is in the cast of “Luna Blanca”. Was Raymart’s work adversely affected by his clash with Mon Tulfo? “No, okay naman siya. I think he knows how to separate his work from what’s happening in his personal life. Mabait si Raymart, one of the most quiet guys I’ve worked with. I’m sure maaayos din yan.”

How did he develop “Boy Pick Up” into a full length film from being just a short segment in “Bubble Gang”? “We created a story about an underground battle going on in the name of love and those who fight are called Pikapistas, with pickup lines as their weapons to woo the gorgeous Sam Pinto as Neneng. The undefeated champion among them is the legendary Ogie as Boy Pickup who works a pastry chef in Heaven’s Bakeshop. This is owned by Solenn Heussaff as Angel, which Boy saves from bankruptcy with a pastry called fishcake. Dennis Trillo is the villain as Bagwis and the climax of the movie is their showdown on who has the best pick up line.”
