John Regala admits he became a drug addict for several years

JOHN REGALA had his life dramatized in Cristy Fermin’s “Star Confessions” and he admitted that he’s been hooked on shabu for years that his own teenage son (played in the show by Lester Llansang) told him “Sige, magshabu na lang tayong lahat.”

We saw John on the set of TV5’s “Glamorosa” where he plays the leader of a crime gang with Zoren Legaspi as his henchman. He said everything shown in Cristy’s show is true.

“Nangyari talaga lahat yun,” he says. “Pero dahil dun, natauhan ako bago kami damputin lahat sa kangkungan. I’m now clean. Tinalikuran ko na lahat ng bisyo ko, pwera na lang ang paninigarilyo. Pero nabawasan na rin.”
He also went on diet. “Wala akong kinakain kundi saging na saba, morning, noon and night. Pag nagsawa ako roon, milon o pakwan. Heto, so far, I’ve lost 60 lbs. na, without exercise, diet lang. I had to change my lifestyle kasi naoperahan ako due to stones in my gall bladder.”

Aside from “Glamorosa”, he’s glad to be part of the remake of the hit soap, “Valiente”, to be helmed by Joel Lamangan for TV5. “Maraming blessings kaya nagpapasalamat ako. I’ve also just finished shooting two new films: ‘The Road’ ni Direk Yam Laranas for GMA Films and ‘Asyong Salonga’ kay Direk Tikoy Aguiluz where I play Asion’s mortal enemy, Totoy Golem. Magsu-shoot na rin ako for ‘El Presidente’ ni Gov. ER Ejercito.”
