GMA-7 was not able to stop Paulo Avelino from moving to ABS-CBN with their counter offer

GMA ARTIST CENTER’s Jenny Donato said they did everything to make Paulo Avelino stay with GMA and not leave for ABS-CBN. “We made a counter offer kasi four years na siya sa amin, nakatakda na ngang mag-start yung ‘Kung Aagawin Mo ang Langit’, dating ‘Magkaagaw’, for him. He’s the sole male lead with Carla Abellana and Michelle Madrigal, but he said mas maganda raw yung inilatag na three shows ng ABS for him,” she says. “His manager, Leo Dominguez, said he personally wanted Paulo to stay with GMA pero siya mismo ang talagang may decision na gusto niyang lumipat.”

Paulo signed up his two-year exclusive contract with ABS under Kapamilya top exec Deo Endrinal. His first project will reportedly be an epic love story ala-‘Wuthering Heights’ with Coco Martin and Julia Montes. If this were true, then it’s not the first time the Emily Bronte classic has been adopted locally. It was done before with Richard Gomez in “Hihintayin Kita sa Langit” and with Richard Gutierrez in “The Promise”. About “Kung Aagawin Mo ang Langit”, they’re now looking for a new leading man to replace Paulo. Our suggestion is to give it to Starstruck 2 winner Mike Tan. He’s tall, good-looking and can act. It’s about time GMA gives him a much deserved break in a leading role.
