TITA MIDZ was honored with the Diwata Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 20th International Women’s Film Festival (IWFF)held at the UP Film Center last March 16. Now 80 years old and newly widowed, Armida Siguion Reyna certainly deserves the honor. Gigi Alfonso, UP Open U chancellor and former chair of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, said Tita Midz is an inspiration to women who’s “tunay na diwata ng sining at pelikula. Siya ang simbolo ng mga kababaihang matatag ang puso.”

As former chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), Tita Midz was commended for her “high respect for artists.” On TV, her “Aawitan Kita” is one of the longest running shows ever. As an actress, Tita Midz shown as Gabriela Silang in “Dung-Aw” by Mario O’Hara, “Tahan Na, Empoy” by Lino Brocka, “Partida” where she play the late FPJ’s main opponent. As a producer, her Reyna Films made many acclaimed films like “Ligaya ang Itawag Mo sa Akin,” “Hihintayin Kita sa Langit,” “Ikaw Pa Lang ang Minahal,” “Ang Lalaki sa Buhay ni Selya.” Congrats to Tita Midz.
