ABS-CBN launches new youth show Good Vibes

ABS-CBN airs a new youth-oriented show with dance as milieu, “Good Vibes”, against GMA-7’s hit “Tween Hearts” on Sunday afternoon right after “ASAP”. It stars Sam Concepcion as Marc and Enrique Gil as Troy, half brothers with Dominic Ochoa as their dad. They both study in the same school and belong to the same dance group as newcomers James Reid, Ivan Dorschner, Yen Santos and Devon Seron of PBB Teens, Linn Oeymo of Pilipinas Got Talent, commercial model Colleen Garcia, and Japinos Kazel Kinouchi and Chikara Nawa. They were recruited from auditions held to cast the show.

It’s obvious ABS is building up Enrique to be a top actor. Aside from “Good Vibes”, he’s also seen daily as one of the leads in “Mula sa Puso”, reprising the role originally played by Diether Ocampo in the original teleserye. Sam, in turn, comes fresh from his successful front act in the concert of Taylor Swift. He also does theatre work and will do the title role in Rep’s staging of “Peter Pan”. Let’s see if “Good Vibes”, that echoes “Glee” and “High School Musical”, would succeed in toppling the ratings of “Tween Hearts” whose stars are now about to do their first movie.
