Winnie Monsod tackles issues of the Aquino administration

EVERYWHERE SHE goes, Mareng Winnie Monsod is still being asked about her former hit show, “Debate with Pare and Mare”. “That’s what they remember most and keep on asking me when it ‘ll return on air,” she says. “I really wish GMA would listen to them as it’s really a very good show. Wala kasing ganung show ngayon that issues are not only discussed but we also give our own evaluation and analyses.”

Mareng Winnie is also remembered for the way he grilled Cong. Mikey Arroyo about ill gotten wealth. “I’m sure his mom was annoyed with him as he was very arrogant and yet he doesn’t really know what he’s talking about. As we all know, government officials are already presumed guilty when it comes to unexplained wealth, until they’ve proven themselves otherwise.” Wasn’t there any attempt to bring her to court? “How can they do that when I’m just telling the truth, I’m not personally attacking him.”

You’ll get the chance to see Mareng Winnie again in action in a new show on GMA News TV, “Bawal ang Pasaway Kay Mareng Winnie” starting March 2, Wednesday, 8 PM. It will help viewers gain a better understanding of vital issues concerning our country. The first episode will focus on Pres. Noynoy Aquino, the strengths and weaknesses of his administration. Mareng Winnie is married to former Comelec chair Christian Monsod and they have four girls and one son: Tammy, the eldest, has one kid and teaches at International School; Tippy is a doctor, married with two kids; Toby is single and in the U.S. teaching economics; Ian (the only boy), has an MBA from Wharton and works with Sesame St., engaged to a Fil-Am girl; Katrina is a lawyer who’s no. 5 at the bar exams, also single. “I have two grandsons and one granddaughter, all extremely intelligent,” proudly proclaims Mareng Winnie, a professor emeritus in U.P.

Starting tonight GMA News will also relaunch their newscasts “24 Oras” with Mike Enriquez and Mel Tiangco, and “Saksi” with Vicky Morales and Arnold Clavio, with a brand new intro and using latest state of the art equipment while continuing to provide topnotch journalism na “walang kinikilingan, walang pinoprotektahan, serbisyong totoo lang.”
