Shaina Magdayao jealous of Ruffa Gutierrez

RUFFA GUTIERREZ stole the limelight from reigning Miss World Alexandra Mills of the USA (who’s still a teenager but looks so mature) and runnerup Emma Wareus from Botswana when Miss World CEO Julia Morley officially transferred the Philippine franchise of the pageant to Cory Quirino at Shangrila Makati. Ruffa is definitely much more beautiful than the younger beauty queens, prompting Mrs. Morley to say when she saw her: “You look fabulous.”

“I’m happy to see Mrs. Morley again kasi after I joined the 1993 Miss World, it’s only now na nagkita kami uli,” says Ruffa. “I told her I’m willing to help the charity projects of Miss World here in the Philippines kasi ang motto nila is beauty with a purpose.”

We’re told Miss World Philippines now negotiates with TV5 for telecast there and Ruffa will be the perfect host of the event. Cory Quirino said the franchise was offered to her by Miss World consultant Paul Lee in Kuala Lumpur and she welcomed the chance to handle it. Mrs. Morley chose not to renew it with Bb. Pilipinas as they want Miss World Philippines to be a solo, separate undertaking. They’ll do regional searches starting March and have the finals in August, in time for Miss World 2011 in November. Beneficiaries are the PGH Medical Foundation and Tuloy Streetchildren. With Cory now handling Miss World Philippines, open to contestants between 17 to 24 years old, we might finally have a winner in the prestigious pageant where no Miss Philippines has ever won.

Meantime, Ruffa is so amazed on how the press got hold of the news that Shaina Magdayao called her up at 2AM. “But I was half asleep next to my daughters, so I couldn’t talk. I just told her if she had a problem, she should just go ask John Lloyd (Cruz) and not me.” This is because of the rumors that Ruffa and Lloydie continue to communicate with each other even if Lloydie is now officially on with Shaina, who probably wants to verify if that story is true.
