Dolphy remembers dead co-stars this Christmas Season

DOLPHY HAS never played a priest before so he’s proud of his filmfest entry, “Father Jejemon”, where he plays a wacky and lovable priest. He’s called Jejemon as his character’s full name is Jeremiah Jerome Montes.

He is supported by Cherie Gil, Maja Salvador, Ejay Falcon, Roy Alvarez, Tony Mabesa, Rhap Salazar and Nash Aguas. “This is a perfect Christmas movie as it’s about love and family,” he says.

Does he still celebrate Christmas at 82? “Of course, pero siempre, may kasamang lungkot kasi sa dami ng Paskong nagdaan sa buhay ko, marami ng family members ang nawala na. When I was younger, pag Pasko, apat na bahay ang iniikutan ko dahil, alam mo na, marami kong pamilya, I have 17 kids. But now, sila na ang pumupuntang lahat sa bahay ko, kasama mga apo ko.”

What is his Christmas wish? “I’m just thankful na nandito pa ko, wala na yung iba like Panchito, Babalu, Palito at iba ko pang mga nakasama noong araw like Chichay and Nida Blanca, may they all rest in peace. Ako, andami kong nalampasang sakit. Nagkaroon ako ng kidney stones, na-angioplasty at heart bypass ako, I just had two bouts with pneumonia, pero awa ng Diyos, eto pa rin ako. Sobrang daming blessings na ko from the Lord. Ang pinagdarasal ko na lang, my loved ones, at sana kumita itong ‘Fr. Jejemon’ na guaranteed laughter and entertainment for all kinds of viewers.”
