Cherie Gil talks about ex-husband

CHERIE GIL’S voice is so hoarse and she says she needs throat surgery to correct it but she just cannot let go of the offers coming her way. “Ang ganda ng role ko sa ‘Grazilda’ as Veronne, contravida to Glaiza de Castro and her mom, Rio Locsin, alangan namang I’ll bypass it,” she says. “Also, I have a filmfest entry, ‘Fr. Jejemon’, where I get the chance to work with a living legend, Tito Dolphy. Alangan naman tanggihan ko yun, di ba? Nakakatuwa ng si Tito Dolphs kasi I thought we haven’t worked together but he’s even the one who reminded me that we’ve worked na before when I was only 15 years old in his action-comedy, ‘Dancing Master’. Biro mo, at his age, mas keen pa ang memory niya kaysa sa akin.”

Cherie feels sad that her 20-year old marriage ended in divorce but she’s glad that she and ex-husband violinist Roni Rogoff are better friends now. “I’m happy that our kids who stay with him in the States to study are coming home for Christmas, along with my eldest son, Jamie (with Leo Martinez as the dad), na nag-aaral din sa New York. We’ll have a big reunion sa Eigenmann clan.”

Is it true her niece, Maxine (daughter of Mark Gil and Bing Pimentel, sister of Sid Lucero), is now preggy? “I heard about it but I have yet to confirm it. I will find out when I see her in our family get-together this Christmas. If ever it’s true, I’m sure the whole family will support her. I’m really proud of my nephews and nieces as theyre all good actors, like Ryan, Sid, Gabby, and Geoff.”

Will she allow her own kids to go into acting? “It’s up to them to decide. Kasi, kahit naman sabihin mong huwag, if that’s what they like, doon din sila mapupunta as acting is really in our blood.”
