Aljur Abrenica ready to do mature scenes in Machete remake

LAST SUNDAY, “Showbiz Central” announced that Aljur Abrenica has officially been chosen to star in the TV remake of the movie “Machete”, which was filmed twice first with Cesar Montano then with Gardo Versoza. “Machete” is a komiks novel about an ethnic wooden statue in loin cloth that comes to life. Aljur, with his chiselled physique, is perfect for the role. “I’m thankful I was the one chosen by GMA-7 to play this on TV,” he says. Is he ready for a more mature image since he’ll be required to do love scenes? “I think so. I’m not a teenager anymore since I’m already 20 years old, so makakaya ko ng gawin yan.”

We won’t be surprised if he’d be paired with newcomer Gwen Zamora since they’re now being linked to each other. “We’re not on, we just hang out together,” he says. Gwen says he serves as her Tagalog tutor. And what can the original Machete say about Aljur playing the role now? “I’m sure he can do it better than I did,” says Cesar Montano when interviewed at his Bellissimo restaurant. He just acted with Aljur in the telefantasya “Ilumina”.
