2010 Yearender Part 3b - Stars transferring TV Networks

Television was very busy and colorful this year. The biggest news on TV is Willie Revillame’s being suspended by ABS-CBN after he asked that Jobert Sucaldito be fired for writing things against his noontime show “Wowowee”. Willie transferred to the Kapatid Network, TV5, got ex-presidential girlfriend Shalani Soledad as his co-host, and his “Willing-Willie” on primetime is now rating well and consistently trouncing ABS’ “TV Patrol” in the ratings. ABS has filed a series of cases against Willie that are now still in court. Attempts to stop his show through restraining orders proved to be futile.

Rigodon or Ober Da Bakod became rampant with stars moving from one TV station to another, especially when TV5 was acquired by PLDT mogul Manny Pangilinan and became more competitive. Paolo Bediones left GMA for TV5 and hosted his own newscast, “Aksyon”, and investigative show, “USI”. Mohan Gumatay aka DJ Mo Twister left GMA without finishing his contract to move to TV5 and was sued in court but nothing came out of it.

JC De Vera also moved to TV5 and is given his own shows, including the series “My Driver Sweet Lover” with Danita Paner. Other new shows started by TV5 are “Paparazzi”, “Party of 5”, “BFGF” that introduced band vocalist Kean Cipriano as an actor, and many public affair shows like “Journo”, “Dokumentado”, “Totoo TV”, “Astig”, and others.

Cesar Montano left ABS and moved to GMA to star in “Ilumina”, also leaving long time manager Norma Japitana, but it's said he's not that happy with the way GMA treats him and is now thinking of moving to TV5. Claudine Barretto also left ABS for GMA and was given her own drama show, “Claudine”, that didn’t rate well so it didn’t last long.
