2010 Yearender Part 3a - Stars in The Elections

There was a national election in May and, as usual, many stars ran for public office. Richard Gomez has tried running for office before but failed. This time, he ran for congressman in Ormoc, Leyte but was disqualified. At the last minute, his wife Lucy Torres took over and won. Obviously, it’s Lucy who’s destined to be a public official and not Goma. Bong Revilla, Jinggoy Estrada and Lito Lapid all ran for re-election at the Senate and won. Ralph Recto and Tito Sotto lost before but they ran again and won this time. The stars who won in their electoral bids include Vilma Santos as Batangas governor and ER Ejercito as Laguna governor. Lani Mercado won as Bacoor, Cavite congresswoman, Manny Pacquiao as Saranggani congressman and Dan Fernandez as Laguna congressman. Daniel Fernando won as Bulacan vice governor.

Those who won as provincial board members are Christopher de Leon in Batangas and Angelica Jones in Laguna. As mayors, those who won include Herbert Bautista in Quezon City, Guia Gomez in San Juan, and Maita Sanchez (wife of ER Ejercito who she replaced) in Pagsanjan. For vice mayor, Isko Moreno in Manila and Teri Onor in Bataan. For councilor, Alfred Vargas, Roderick Paulate, Gian Sotto, Precious Hipolito (her husband winnie as congressman) in Quezon City; Yul Servo, Robert Ortega, and Lou Veloso in Manila; Marjorie Barretto in Caloocan; Maybeline de la Cruz in Dagupan, Monsour del Rosario in Makati, and Alma Moreno, Ryan Yllana, Jason Webb, Roselle Nava, all in Paranaque.

Stars and other celebs who lost while running for various positions include Edu Manzano (as vice president), Cesar Montano (as Bohol governor), Gilbert Remulla, Adel Tamano and Riza Hontiveros (as senator), Joey Marquez, Rico Puno, Anjo Yllana, Ara Mina, Aiko Melendez, Jestoni Alarcon, Ogie Diaz, Pico Puno, Jobelle Salvador, Glenda Garcia, Jestoni Alarcon, Imelda Papin and Arnell Ignacio. In the barangay elections, those who won are Jolo Revilla, Director Lino Cayetano and “Goin’ Bulilit” midget comedian Dagul.
