GMA KAPUSO STORY COFFEE TABLE A MUST READ FOR BROADCASTING ENTHUSIASTS

WE’D LIKE TO thank GMA exec Butch Raquel for giving us a copy of their impressive coffee table book, “Kapuso: The GMA Story”, published in celebration of GMA’s 60th anniversary in touching hearts and enriching lives, with Krip Yuson as executive editor. It starts with articles from Pres. Felipe Gozon (“Rising to Number One”) and former top honchos Gilbert Duavit Sr. (“Reflection and Appreciations”) and Menardo Jimenez (“The Great Balancing Act: Integrity, Programming and Profits”). The next part traces the station’s history in “Ang Kasaysayan ng Kapuso”. Contributing to a recount of the early days are Rodolfo Reyes, Freddie Garcia, Antonio Seva and Tina Monzon Palma. Describing “The Turn Around” in the station’s march to progress are Jimmy Duavit Jr., Felipe Yalong, Manuel Quiogue, Joel Jimenez, Laura Westfall, Judith Vasquea and Judd Gallares. There also articles by Mike Enriquez, Mel Tiangco, Kuya Germs, Orly Mercado, Jessica Soho, Marissa Flores, Wilma Galvante and Annette Gozon Abrogar. An obvious labor of love, the book is full of invaluable fotos and will be of infinite help to students of mass communications and broadcasting.
