The director “Alyna”, FM Reyes, says they salute Shaina for being strong about it. “Her work was not at all affected by the nasty rumor and we’re all in awe of her after each take.,” he says.
“Alyna” is Shaina’s first daring role as she plays a woman impregnated by Sid Lucero, who’s already married to Kaye Abad. She finds out that the name Sid is using, Dominic Del Carmen, actually belongs to Jason Abalos. “I first directed Shaina as a child star in ‘Marinella’,” adds Direk FM. “A project like ‘Alyna’ is long overdue for her as she’s a very intelligent actress who delivers what you ask her to do. Di matatawaran ang talent niya.”
Although she goes sexy, Shaina doesn’t show any skin. “Di naman puedeng sobrang sexy kasi we’ll air in the afternoon, replacing ‘Impostor’ starting this Monday,” she says. “But I have love scenes here with both Sid and Jason na ngayon ko pa lang ginawa.”
How is it working with both of them? “I’ve worked with Jason in ‘Kambal sa Uma’ so comfortable na kami. Si Sid ngayon pa lang. But it’s exciting to work with them kasi pareho sila magaling.”

CAMILLE PRATS does her first villain role as the relative of Raymart Santiago who orders him killed and kidnaps his wife Gelli de Belen in “Bantatay” that starts telecast tomorrow at 6 PM. “Sobrang sama ko rito,” she says. “Inggitera kasi ko dahil kay Raymart pinamana ng lolo namin ang malaking bahay niya. So after he died and we got Gelli out of the way, I took over sa bahay nila at inapi-api ko yung tatlong anak niya, without knowing Raymart has returned as their pet dog, Bantay.”
How’s her son Nathan? “He’s now 2 and a half years old and is going to pre-nursery in the pre-school that I put up in the village in Cainta where my parents live. Bale three times a week siya pumapasok at hatid-sundo ko siya kasi kami ng husband ko now live in Alabang. Now that I have three times a week taping for ‘Bantatay’, I often leave him with my parents at tuwang-tuwa naman sila. We tape ‘Bantatay’ in Nasugbu and Lemery, Batangas and my husband now is busy with our piggery farm in Malvar, also in Batangas, kaya malapit-lapit ang location namin sa kanya.”
How is her Kuya John Prats after his breakup with Shaina Magdayao? “Dinamdam niya talaga yun kasi two years din sila, his longest na nagging girlfriend kaya malaki ring emotional investment ang nilagay niya roon. Even our family was affected as Shaina became close to us also.”
What does she think of the ugly rumor about Shaina having vaginismus and being taken to the hospital with John Lloyd? “I don’t think it’s true kasi I know her. And also, sakali mang nangyari yun, I don’t think they’ll be stupid enough to go to a hospital for that gayong kilala sila ng lahat ng tao. Kagaguhan naman yun.”
And what can she say about her friend Angelica Panganiban’s rift with Claudine Barretto? “Naku, ba’t akong tinatanong, e hindi naman akong involved sa intriga? All I can say is I’m praying for them na magbati na lang sila kasi showbiz is a small world.”

AT THE LAUNCH of his two new shows on TV 5, “Wow, May Ganon” and “House or Not”, Joey de Leon said he doesn’t mind if Willie Revillame would join TV 5. But how come there’s a story now that if TV 5 would air Willie’s comeback show, not only Joey but also his friend Vic Sotto would resign from their shows in the Kapatid network? “Hindi naman yun ang tinututulan nila,” says someone close to them. “They don’t mind talaga if Willie would have a show on TV 5 na sabi will be on primetime. What they don’t like is that Willie is requesting na gawin ding noontime show ang programa niya. In which case, itatapat uli sa ‘Eat Bulaga’. Yun ang ayaw nina Joey. Bakit mas parang bibigyan si Willie ng importancia gayong mas nauna sa TV5 sina Joey at Vic?”
Honestly, we don’t think this will be an issue. Willie’s Wowowee didn’t succeed in toppling down Eat Bulaga and even Kris Aquino’s Win na Win also failed to do that. So there’s no reason for the Eat Bulaga people to feel insecure if Willie’s show on TV 5 would be up against them.

K-Pop culture has reached its highest popularity level in the country and it’s only fitting to feature them in a fusion concert with our own Pinoy Pop idols tonight on GMA 7’s SNBO.

WE HAD a rollicking goodtime at the RCBC Theatre in Makati with “Xanadu”, the musical play that spoofs the movie directed by Hollywood legend Gene Kelly that bombed big time at the tills when it was shown in 1980. The local stage version’s chief asset is Rachel Alejandro in the role of Greek demigod Clio who becomes an Aussie rollerskater in L.A. called Kira. She has this very pronounced Aussie accent that spoofs the original Clio-Kira in the film, Olivia Newton John, who’s best known for “Grease”. The show moves swiftly at less than two hours with no intermission. Rachel performs most of the time on rollerskates, which can be very demanding. But she delivers in all aspects: acting, singing, dancing. Another great plus is stage director Chari Arespacochaga who acts here as the goddess of tragedy, Melpomene, sizzling in the song number “Evil Woman” with her sister Calliope, played by the scene-stealing Yael Pineda who also doubles as Aphrodite, the goddess of love, and Chari even makes fun of this constraint of playing double roles near the show’s end. Ably directed by Bobby Garcia, the amazing cast also topbills superlative performances from Felix Rivera as Sonny Malone (played in the film by Michael Beck, who has since faded into oblivion), the young artist Kira helps put up a rollerskates disco, and Noel Trinidad as Danny Maguire (originally played by Gene Kelly himself in the film), the businessman who regrets of letting go of his first love (also Clio) during the war just because he got more engrossed with amassing wealth. If you want to have fun, don’t miss “Xanadu” which is now on its last weekend.
