VIVA ENTERTAINMENT is discovering and introducing a lot of new sexy stars every week as they have to show a new movie on Vivamax each Friday.
“Dapat lang talagang maka-discover ng mga bago para hindi pare-pareho na lang ang nakikitang mga artista ng viewers linggo-linggo,” says one of Viva’s most prolific filmmakers, cult director Roman Perez Jr. who is introducing two more new stars in his latest erotic drama, “Salakab”: Sahara Bernales and Horace Mendoza.
“Siempre, hindi puedeng sila-sila na lang lagi at yun at yun lang ang napapanood, para hindi magsawa agad ang tao.”
Both Sahara and Horace are from the province.
Sahara is from Pampanga while Horace is from a remote town called Tumauini in Isabela. They are both using their real names, no screen names.
So why is she called Sahara?
“Hindi ko rin po alam,” she says. “Basta yun po ang ibinigay na pangalan sa akin ng father ko. Baka na-inspire siya ng Sahara Desert.”
She is a dusky beauty with attractive morena complexion.
“I got that from being one-fourth Aeta sa mother’s side ko,” she explains. “Yung ibang features ko po, nakuha ko naman from my father na may Spanish blood.”
She is tall and with her “kayumanggi” color, she might be a hit in beauty pageants.
“Naku, wala po sa plano ko yun kasi alam ko namang hindi ako ganun katalino. Baka pagdating sa question and answer portion, hindi ako makasagot.
"I did runway modeling tapos, may nagdala sa akin sa Viva at ayun, I was cast in the series ‘Halo-Halo X’ at ngayon, sa pelikula na.”
So what is her role in “Salakab”?
“Island girl po ako sa story. May gusto ako kay Benz Sangalang as Arthur, pero mas patay na patay siya kay Angeli Khang as Lena, so doon ako bumagsak sa best friend ni Benz na si Didong, played by Horace Mendoza.”
So she has a love scene with Horace?
“Meron po. Nude love scene. Kinakabahan kami pareho noong una, kasi pareho kaming first time gagawin ito. But with the help of Direk Roman Perez and his staff, nagawa naman po namin nang maayos.”
The movie was shot on location in a distant island off the coast of Batangas.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako kasi puro mababait sila sa akin sa set. Kasama ko sa room where we stayed si Angeli Khang at napakabait niya. Very down to earth and helpful sa isang baguhang gaya ko.”
Horace says he really dreams of being an actor while growing up in Isabela.
“I joined yun pong male pageants sa mga barangay. Tapos, nag-apply po ako by email sa manager ko, Jojo Veloso of Philmoda, at pinapunta ako sa Manila para makita ako nang personal.
"Nakuha naman po ako and like Sahara, I first appeared in a small role sa ‘Halo Halo X’ at heto, nasundan na ng ‘Salakab’ na palabas na po ngayon sa Vivamax.”
