RURU MADRID’S ‘BLACK RIDER’ had a grand launch at GMA-7’s Studio 6 and it’s easy to see in the full trailer that the Kapuso Network really spent so much and left no stone unturned to make sure it will be a spectacular hard action series.
This is surely one of the most star-studded cast in a series and all of them showed up at the presscon to show their full support to Ruru.
All of them declared Ruru has great potential to be the next big action star.
“I’m really overwhelmed sa suporta ng lahat ng co-stars ko, lalo na yung dating big lead actors natin na kasama ko ngayon rito like Monsour del Rosario, Raymart Santiago, Raymond Bagatsing, Zoren Legaspi, Roi Vinzon, Gary Estrada, Isko Moreno, Empoy Marquez and all the rest,” says Ruru.
“I am really honored and thankful na nakasama ko sila rito. Starstruck ako noong una, but I really learned from all of them.
"And I’m also so happy to return to primetime as this will be shown right after ‘24 Oras’ on weeknights.”
So how is “Black Rider” different from his last action hit?
“Malaki po, kasi ‘Lolong’ is fantasy-action at kinunan namin during the pandemic so lock in taping kami, kaya limited ang locations namin.
"Sa ‘Black Rider’, we do hard action tapos iba-iba ang locations. Maraming bagong sets and locations na ipakikita rito, like yung village submerged in floods all year round.”
He also had lots of special training for the show.
SIx months bago nag-start ang taping, I trained na in martial arts, motorcycle driving and doing my own stunts.
"Lahat ng fight scenes and stunts dito, ako mismo ang gumawa. And I gave them my all kasi ayokong ma-disappoint ang GMA sa binigay nilang tiwala sa akin.
"I want to exceed all their expectations.”
Ruru plays Elias Guerrero, a delivery rider who falls in love with Kylie Padilla.
They have a peaceful life with their child, but Ruru had an encounter with Jon Lucas as Calvin, the abusive son of a drug lord.
He beats up Jon but Jon gets back at him with his whole gang, the Golden Scorpion Boys played by Joem Bascon, Dustin Yu, Vance Larena, Joaquin Manansala, Kim Perez and Saviour Ramos.
They attack his home and something tragic befalls his helpless family.
Ruru as Elias will later be transformed to a crimefighter as the Black Rider, the symbol of justice and hope for the poor people of the city who are tragic victims of crime and injustice.
Also in the cast are Rio Locsin as Ruru’s mom, Yassi Pressman as the snatcher Vanessa or Bane, Katrina Halili as the sexy hired killer Romana, Gladys Reyes as the power hungry wife of a mayor, and Empoy Marquez, Janus del Prado and Rainier Castillo as Ruru’s sidekick delivery boys called the Byaheros.
This is under the direction of Rommel Penesa and Richard Arellano, with Erwin Tagle as the director of the action scenes. Don’t miss it when it starts airing on Monday, November 6.
