ROBI DOMINGO is hosting his first game show, “Watchawin”, which is also his first assignment with the PIE Channel.
He was discovered when he joined PBB Teen Edition in 2008 and ended up as the first runner up to Ejay Falcon.
Robi’s parents are both doctors and he’s initially set to take up medicine but fate has other plans for him.
He first became a VJ in MYX, but he has since made a name for himself as a very capable host in such shows as ‘ASAP’, ‘Umagang Kay Ganda’, ‘The Voice’, ‘Game KNB’, ‘Idol Philippines’ and even ‘Pinoy Big Brother’.
Robi has also won awards for hosting like best reality show host and best talent search program host.
Now, he gets to show his first game show with PIE Channel, “Watchawin”, shown Monday to Friday, from 8:15 to 9 PM, starting September 11.
In the game, Robi as Game Master will show short videos called watchables to the studio contestant that viewers or online KaTroPIES can also see.
The participant and all the viewers who want to join should then watch the video being shown to them intently and try to remember all the details and elements they will see in it.
Later, Robi will ask a question that pertains to what they just saw and to win, they have to give the correct answer. This is a test of how observant you are and how good your memory is.
In the episode shown to the press, it’s a parody of teleseryes entitled “Kulang sa Pansin”.
A housemaid is shown ironing clothes when her haughty boss comes in and slaps her without warning.
You’d think that the subsequent question will be about what the boss did to the poor maid. But the actual question is: what is the color of the shirt that the maid is ironing when her boss comes in?
If you can answer the questions correctly, you can win as much as P60,000 per week when you join the show even by just sending your answer through texting.
In fairness to Robi, he handled the entire show as game master quite expertly. He’s very lively and there’s never a dull moment with him around.
Robi is turning 34 on September 27 and it is common knowledge that he has proposed in November of last year to his fiancee, Maiqui Pineda, in the middle of Tokyo’s very busy Shibuya Crossing no less.
They are now officially engaged but Maiqui has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and is currently undergoing treatment.
Robi says she’s okay now, feeling much better, and they have no plans of postponing their altar date, the details of which he himself is attending to.
So let’s all pray with Robi that his fiancee’s ailment will soon be fully healed so they can go on with their intended date to walk down the aisle soon, for better or for worse.
