AFTER THE IMMENSE success of their first mini-series, “The Rain in Espana”, which is geared towards Gen Z audiences, Viva One now comes up with a romantic drama about 20 and 30 somethings, “Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko”, based on the best selling book of poems by Marcelo Dumlao Santos.
It focuses on the loves and lives of three young couples who are all connected with each other: Carlo Aquino and Coleen Garcia, Kiko Estrada and Ryza Cenon, and Jerome Ponce and Rhen Escano.
This is under the direction of acclaimed indie film director Carlo E. Catu.
“I’m so happy to be part of this series as people and lovers everywhere can easily relate with the situations portrayed in it,” says Carlo, who just comes from the hit movie on Netflix, “Seasons”.
“It’s about the joys and pains we all experience when we are in love and the tragedy of failed relationships. In our story ni Coleen, I play a chef, si Benedict, while Coleen plays Allie, a dentist.
"We are so in love with each other that we quickly scheduled our wedding. Then we see our friends, Ryza and Kiko, having problems with their marriage and we both get cold feet.”
It’s common knowledge that Carlo earlier had a relationship with non-showbiz GF Trina Candaza.
They have a daughter named Mithi who was born in 2020, but their relationship ended the following year.
Now, he has hooked up with actress Charlie Dizon.
They met while doing “A Soldier’s Heart”, but it’s while they were in the USA doing a tour for Star Magic that they got to know each other better.
As for Coleen, she just celebrated her ninth anniversary with hubby Billy Crawford as a couple.
“We were married at Balesin Island in April 2018, but we were on as girlfriend-boyfriend for four years before that,” she says.
“Our marriage has taught me the value of commitment. We never made suko with each other. We stick to each other, through thick and thin.”
Coleen wrote a touching message for Billy for their 9th anniversary a few days ago.
It says: “Nine years of saying ‘I love you, too.’ l can't even begin to put it all into words. You know how I feel, you know my heart, and you know how grateful I am for you.
"Even after nine years, you never let a single day pass without making sure I know how much and how deeply you love and appreciate me. You give me the kind of love that truly heals and nurtures growth, and I hope we continue to bring out the best in each other.
"I love you (and miss you) sooo so much. So l just want to honor you now for being my partner. I never even knew how to pray.
"You're one of the constant things that remind me that God's design for my life is far better than what I could ever imagine for myself.
"Thank you for being everything I have ever needed-and will ever need-in a partner.”
