MAVY LEGASPI and Kyline Alcantara’s are so happy to have new assignments after they did the endearing GMA Public Affairs digital series, “Zero Kilometers Away”.
Now, they’re starring on a new young romance TV series, “Luv Is: Love at First Read”, that starts airing on June 12 to replace “Hearts on Ice”.
A collaboration between GMA Network and Wattpad Webtoon Studios, “Love at First Read” is the first primetime show of the Mav-Line love team. So what is the story and what are their roles?
“I play a guy named Kudos Pereseo,” says Mavy. “I’m a hotshot varsity player in school but a hopeless romantic who is still searching for what I consider my ideal girl.”
“Ako naman po si Angelica Dimakapili,” says Kyline. “I’m an avid fan of K-pop and K-drama, but I don’t believe in love kasi my own mother has bad experiences when it comes to romance and men.”
“We come from different worlds but our paths will cross because of a diary,” adds Mavy.
“I’m really excited kasi both Kyline and I play very challenging roles. The characters we play are so different from any series that we have done before.
"I feel somehow pressured kasi si Kyline is already a seasoned actress compared to me. She already did primetime dramas before and she has also gone solo, kaya mas sanay na siya, kahit sa heavy drama, but this time, we are doing a much lighter romantic story.”
“Yes, sobrang kakaiba itong ‘Love at First Read’ to the intense dramas na nagawa ko na before,” says Kyline.
“Mavy knows na nanibago ako kasi sanay ako sa drama, but here, kailangan akong lumayo sa nakasanayan ko kasi kailangan ng much lighter na atake para sa role ko rito.”
“Pero siempre, hindi mawawala ang kilig romantic moments na tiyak na magugustuhan ng viewers who go for romantic stories,” says Mavy.
“We are so thankful to the veteran actors who play our parents in the show kasi malaki ang naitutulong nila sa amin, sina Jackielou Blanco, Jestoni Alarcon and Maricar de Mesa.”
Supporting them are young Sparkle stars led by Therese Malvar, Marco Masa, Pam Prinster, Mariel Paminutan and young Kapuso heartthrobs Bruce Roeland, Larkin Castor, Josh Ford and Tiktok stars Gabby and Kiel, known as the Gueco Twins.
So you can soon watch Mavy and Kyline every night in “Luv Is: Love at First Read”.
But aside from that, you can now also watch Mavy at noontime as he and his twin sister, Cassy, are included in the roster of new hosts for “Eat Bulaga” replacing the old Dabarkads led by Tito, Vic and Joey.
“Yes, bagong challenge po sa amin ito, as we know we will be compared to the former hosts of the show,” says Mavy.
“But we enjoy doing it, being hosts of a popular noontime show, and we promise to do our best para magustuhan kami ng viewers at maging karapat-dapat kaming hosts ng isang long running show.”
Other Kapuso stars who are now also hosts of “Eat Bulaga” are Paolo Contis, Betong Sumaya, Kokoy de Santos, Buboy Villar, Alexa Miro and the girl group XOXO.
