MORISETTE GRATEFUL AND PROUD TO BE DOING A CONCERT WITH MARTIN NIEVERA ON JUNE 2 (HER BIRTHDAY) & JUNE 3 IN CALIFORNIA, USA

MORISETTE AND HER HUSBAND, DAVE LAMAR,

MORISETTE is joining forces with Martin Nievera to stage a concert in the USA, produced by Enteng the Dragon Productions.

The first show is on June 2, Friday, at the Graton Resort Casino at the Bay Area (which also happens to be Morisette’s 27th birthday) and on June 3, Saturday, at Fantasy Resort Spring Casino. For tickets in the USA, call 702-8569723.

Is this the first they’re doing a concert together?

“No,” says Morisette. “Tito martin was the very first artist na kumuha sa akin at isinama ako sa shows niya with TFC and abroad. But this is the first time na magkakasama kami after the pandemic.”

So how is it?

“I’m so excited to sing with him again. And I really feel so honored and humbled kasi, let’s face it, Concert King siya, di ba?

"Even my whole family, fan niya. He’s a seasoned icon and for him to consider me to sing with him, I’m really super grateful to be performing with him.”

She says she was so new in showbiz when she first performed with Martin.

“I was only 16 when I first performed with him in ABS-CBN. He’s so accommodating to new artists like me. He gives great advice and is so much fun to be with. I love watching him perform and I love performing with him.”

How does she feel about that foreign producer who predicted she will be the next Regine Velasquez?

“Yes, I saw that article and it’s an honor that they see that kind of potential in me. But Ms. Regine is still very much around, so hindi pa siya papalitan ng kahit sino.”

She’s now branching out to do other things.

“Right now, I’m going through a transition period as an artist. I am growing more as an artist as I’m also getting into songwriting and producing, no longer just an interpreter of songs.

"And i’m glad that a lot of people are helping me to achieve it.”

She’s also getting into acting.

“Yes, I’m shooting a movie, ‘Song of the Fireflies’, shot in Bohol and about the Loboc Children’s Choir.

"It’s from the same team that made ‘Larawan, The Musical’, with Celeste Legaspi and Rachel Alejandro.

"I play the founder of the choir and it’s a new challenge for me to be acting in a film.”

And how is her marriage to Dave Lamar?

“It’s okay. We are celebrating our second wedding anniversary in June. I’m happy that we’re two different people but we’re doing fine.

"I’ve known him since 2011 and it’s good that we were friends first. Now, we continue to grow together, he’s helping me with my songwriting and also put up our own music label to help other artists.”

Morisette is currently being pitted against Jake Zyrus as she is the new apple of the eye of music producer David Foster.

Jake used to be David’s protegee when she was still Charice Pempengco.

But Morisette does not want to dwell on this anymore.

She says she is just thankful that the world renowned David Foster is helping Filipina singers like her and Jake to also cultivate a career abroad.
