MILES OCAMPO GLAD TO BE PART OF TOUCHING TEARJERKER, 'PAPA M,ASCOT', TALKS ABOUT HER RECENT HEALTH ISSUES

MILES OCAMPO WITH KEN CHAN IN 'PAPA MASCOT'

MILES OCAMPO is experiencing some serious health issues but she continues to be very busy. She got raves as the rape victim in “Batang Quiapo” and she was riotous as Enchong Dee’s horny bride in the hit comedy, “Here Comes the Groom”.

Now, she has another new movie coming up, “Papa Mascot”, with Ken Chan, opening in theaters on April 26. So how is her health condition now?

“After I got the right treatment, I’m feeling okay now,” she says. “But at the time I was taping for ‘Batang Quiapo’, I was always feeling very tired.

"It’s like someone was strangling me at ang bilis kong hingalin. Tapos, I’m putting on excess weight.

"So I had a blood test and they said it has something to do with my thyroid glands. So nagpa-ultrasound ako, may growth daw, so nagpa-biopsy naman ako. The doctor said na kailangang siyang tanggalin.”

Because of the medical procedure needed to be done on her, she had to cancel all her showbiz appointments.

“Siempre, I should give priority to my health. It’s good na-detect nga agad and I had my surgery to remove it. Kasi, kung tumagal-tagal pa raw, it could have gotten worse.”

Miles now sports a small scar on her neck from where the growth, called papillary thyroid carcinoma, was removed.

“My body responded well, pero may isa pa raw procedure na dapat gawin sa akin later, and after, I will just take maintenance medicines to make sure my thyroids will be okay.

"Madali naman akong naka-recover. Kasi after that, I attended the press preview of Elijah Canlas’ ‘About Us But Not About Us’ sa Gateway and later, he attended naman the premiere night of my movie, “Here Comes the Groom’, sa SM Megamall.

"Pareho kasi kaming may entry sa summer filmfest.”

She’s thankful to God for healing her, and also her doctors, her “Eat Bulaga” family, her BF Elijah and her family who have all been very supportive to her.

“They all made me feel loved, that I’m not at all alone in my journey. I’m really touched kasi people I don’t even know sent me get well messages on social media, so I also want to send my love to everyone.”

She’s also inviting everyone to watch “Papa Mascot” of Wide International when it opens in theaters nationwide on April 26.

She plays Ken Chan’s close friend in the resort where they work and she sympathizes with him totally in his fight to get custody of his 6-year old daughter.

“Parang ako ang leading lady ni Ken dito but hindi emphasized ang romantic angle kasi mas naka-focus ang movie sa relationship ni Ken with his daughter.

"I’m so happy to be given the chance to work with him na hindi mangyayari before kasi we belong to different networks.

"Ken is so good in his role as the devoted father and I assure you that you will be touched by his dramatic scenes with his daughter, played by Erin Rose Espiritu who is really such a precocious child actress. Marami siyang paiiiyakin dito.”
