GLAIZA DE CASTRO had a beautiful Filipiniana wedding by the beach in Zambales with her Irish businessman husband, David Rainey, last January.
Now, she is officially back to acting and gets to play another challenging role in an afternoon soap, “The Seed of Love”, directed by Ricky Davao.
Direk Ricky says it took them three years to finish taping the series.
“We started shooting in 2020 then inabot kami ng lockdown,” he says. “We’ve shot pa naman on location in Banaue, Ifugao.
"Noong lockdown, we had kids in the cast and bawal mag-taping ang mga bata, so we had to make adjustments in the script.
"We’re all so glad that finally natapos na rin at heto, maipapalabas na and we’re all very proud it kasi naiiba talaga ang story nito and everyone in the cast is so good in their respective roles.
"They all really gave their best.”
In the story, Glaiza de Castro plays Eileen Collantes and she’s married to Mike Tan as Bobby Jurado.
She met when they delivered together the baby of a pregnant woman by the roadside. They called it the miracle of life.
Romance blooms between them and they had their wedding amidst the beautiful rice terraces.
Glaiza won’t get pregnant so they resort to in-vitro fertilization. But things get complicated when Valerie Concepcion as Alexa Cardinal turns up one day to mess up their lives.
She is Mike’s ex-girlfriend who he broke up with her as she’s a possessive spoiled brat.
She tells Mike that he actually got her pregnant after they had a recent one-night stand, but the truth is she only just drugged him so that he’d get into bed with her.
It turns out that the villainous Valerie is just so obsessed with Mike and would not let go of him that easily.
Years ago, Mike had his sperm frozen for fear that he might get cancer just like his mother who died from it.
So he had his seed frozen to be used in the event that he gets afflicted with the big C and might undergo chemotherapy that will surely destroy his sperm cells.
Valerie then had his seed stolen from the laboratory where it is kept and used it on herself so she’d get pregnant with Mike’s sperm cells.
The big supporting cast include Boy2 Quizon as Valerie’s friend who stole Mike’s sperm cells and later blackmails her, Tina Paner as Glaiza’s sister Ludy, Bernadette Allyson as Jinny,
Ervic Vijandre as Mandy, Yanna Asistio as Mona, Ashley Rivera as Frieda, and Allan Paule as Mike’s father Nelson. “The Seed of Love” will start airing soon on May 8 to replace “Underage”.
