NEWBIE HUNK MIGS ALMENDRAS GETS BIG BREAK IN VIVAMAX SERIES, 'HIGH ON SEX', AND BL MOVIE, 'MEMORIES OF A LOVE STORY'

MIGS ALMENDRAS is elated to be working with Vivamax as he has a new movie, “Memories of a Love Story”, and a new series, “High on Sex”.

Migs has done supporting roles in various movies and TV series, but the Vivamax projects are his biggest assignments to date.

In “High on Sex”, he plays Wes, a young student who wants to explore his sexuality. Whether you are gay or straight, anyone is welcome to get into the same bed with him.

Nothing is going to stop him from being sexually authentic to himself.  Because of this, he gets the tag as Mr. Fluid, meaning, he can make love with both sexes.

In “Memories of a Love Story”, he plays one of the leads in this BL (Boys Love) flick written and directed by Jay Altarejos.

He’s paired with Oliver Aquino and they play young lovers whose love affair had to end when Migs’ grandma, played by Dexter Doria, interferes and separates them.

Migs comes from a rich family in their home province in Camerines Norte, while Oliver is the son of their housemaid.

Years later, they will meet again when Oliver returns to their province and their feelings for each other are rekindled. Will their romance prosper this time?

Migs and Oliver have intimate love scenes in the movie. Isn’t Migs reluctant to accept gay roles when he says he’s really straight in real life?

“No, as long as I know myself and I’m secure with my masculinity, okay lang with me to do gay roles,” he says.

“I’m an actor, and I am just playing a role. I come from the theatre sa Tanghalang Ateneo, where I majored in communication, and I’ve long learned how to get rid of my inhibitions when I perform.”

He treats his body as an instrument that he just uses to portray the roles assigned to him.

“In ‘High on Sex’ nga, there’s one day that I did four different bedscenes.

It was really quite overwhelming, but I had to do it as it’s part of my job as an actor. Sa ‘Memories of a Love Story’, Oliver and I naman have two hot love scenes.”

Doesn’t he feel exploited?

“Not really. Pinasok ko ito with my eyes open. For me, a role is a role, kahit BL role pa yan, so okay lang with me.

"But I hope that one day, malampasan ko ang phase na ito in my career and I get to play more challenging, more substantial roles na hindi puro sex lang.

"I also want to try other kinds of vehicles, like comedy kasi mahilig talaga akong magpatawa. Or even action.”

What can he say to bashers who say that Vivamax sexy flicks are nothing but trash?

“Well, sana lang, they it muna before they pass judgment. Like ‘High on Sex’, it’s about the coming-of-age experiences of five students who gain experiences that help them navigate their questions not just about sex, but also about identity, family, and love.

"Maraming makaka-relate dito specially among young viewers who are confused or wondering about sexuality and its place in their lives.”
