EDGAR ALLAN GUZMAN CONSIDERS IT A BIG BLESSING TO BE PART OF HIT GMA SUSPENSERYE 'WIDOW'S WEB' THAT ENDS THIS WEEK

EDGAR ALLAN GUZMAN considers it a big blessing that he became a part of the hit GMA primetime drama, “Widow’s Web”, that is ending this week.

He plays the role of Frank Querubin, a man wrongly accused of killing the patriarch of the Sagrado Family played by Ryan Eigenmann.

Now that the series is about to end, get ready for more shocking twists and turns in the story as the truth about the murder is about to be revealed.

“It’s a good show, the script is very well written at puro magagaling ang kasama kong artista kaya hindi kami nagtaka when it rated so high every night,” he says.

“First time ko to be paired here with Pauline Mendoza who plays my girlfriend na gagawin ang lahat to prove na wala akong kasalanan sa krimeng ibinibintang sa akin.

"Alam mong nagki-click ang show kasi everywhere I go, tinatanong nila sa akin kung ano na ang mangyayari at sino ba talaga ang killer, which of course, hindi ko naman puedeng i-reveal.”

Part of the attraction of “Widow’s Web” as GMA’s first suspenserye, aside from its intriguing plot that involves murder, is that it explores the world of rich people in high society and their personal battles for wealth and power.

As a thriller, it has characters that are not just the usual black or white, but more in the gray area like most other flawed human beings.

The acting is also very good, with Carmina Villaroel excelling in her snotty role of Barbara, who’s always feeling entitled.

Ashley Ortega as her sister in law and wife of the murdered Ryan Eigenmann, also makes her mark in her first mature role playing a character who has her own dark secrets.

“Yun talaga ang isang alas ng show,” says Edgar. “Puro mahuhusay ang mga nagsisiganap.

"Wala kang itulak-kabigin so you also have to give your best para hindi ka mapag-iwanan ng mga kasama mo sa eksena.

"Tapos, ang galing din ng direction ni Direk Jerry Sineneng, so we have a really good episode every night.”

Edgar or E.A. started in showbiz when he won as Mr. Pogi in “Eat Bulaga” on 2006.

“Ang haba na rin ng itinakbo ng career ko and I’m so proud na I’ve won best actor awards for films like ‘Ligo na U, Lapit na Me’ and ‘Astig’.

"Malaki rin ang pasasalamat ko sa GMA as I’ve done several good projects with them through the years, like ‘The Stepdaughters’ and ‘Dragon Lady’, at hindi naman ako nababakante.

"Last year, I was in two shows, ‘Heartful Cafe’ and ‘Agimat ng Agila’, at heto nga kai-start lang ng new years, nakasama naman ako sa ‘Widow’s Web’, so I cannot complain.”

From his earnings in showbiz, he’s proud to be able to have bought his mother a house and lot and he also got a lot in Tagaytay.

“Very careful ako sa kinikita ko,” he says. “I make sure I spend it wisely at napupunta sila sa magagandang investments.”

He continues to play beautiful music with Kapuso actress Shaira Diaz.

They have their own careers and Shaira is now busy taping the action-fantasy drama “Lolong”, opposite Ruru Madrid.
