CHRISTINE BERMAS TOPBILLS ANOTHER JOEL LAMANGAN EROTIC-DRAMA, 'ISLAND OF DESIRE', TO STREAM ON VIVAMAX APRIL 1

                                 CHRISTINE BERMAS with JELA CUENCA

CHRISTINE BERMAS is one of the busiest stars of the pandemic.

She has done so many movies and right now, her new movie, “Moonlight Butterfly”, is being streamed on Vivamax and yet another new movie is being promoted for streaming on April 1, “Island of Desire”.

“Yes, the pandemic turned out to be lucky for me kasi dito nag start yung career ko at nagsunod-sunod ang projects ko habang yung iba walang trabaho,” she says at the presscon of “Island of Desire”.

“At swerte ko ring my movies are mostly with Direk Joel Lamangan. I started with him and andami ko talagang natutuhan sa kanya about my craft.”

How is “Island of Desire” different from her past recent films?

“Mas matindi ang story nito, may mystery, may kababalaghan. I’m just thankful na hindi ito sobrang sexy. Mas focused ito sa kakaibang story.  Very challenging ang buong movie for me kasi sa character ko umikot ang buong story.”

Since the title is about desire, what is  desirable for her?

“Siempre important pa rin ang looks. but attitude for me is the most desirable, kung paano ka makitungo sa ibang tao and how willing you are to do your work. Maganda nga looks mo pero pangit naman ugali mo, hindi ka pa rin desirable for me.”

So Christine is inviting you to have a vacation this summer in the “Island of Desire” that is full of mystery. Once you’re in, there’s no going back.

The film is about a young nurse,  Martha (Christine), who is assigned to work on a remote island called “Isla Bato.”

She befriends some residents like Tess (Jela Cuenca), a midwife on the island, and Leloy (Sean de Guzman), a tricycle driver.  Soon, Martha begins to discover the strange things about the place, including a cult with fanatic followers and an abusive leader (Jim Pebanco.)

She also finds her long-lost sister (Sheree), who warns her to escape while she can.

See how the mysteries of this enchanting island filled with passion, lust, and love unfold before Martha’s eyes.

“Island of Desire” is by the multi-awarded Joel Lamangan and he wants to clarify that the film is not a remake of an earlier Regal movie with the same title.

“This is an original film written by Troy Espiritue tungkol sa dalawang reyalidad sa buhay nung character ni Christine,” he says.

“Isa ay nangyayari sa totong buhay niya at yung isa, nangyayari lang sa isip niya.

"Magkaiba ang color grading ng real and unreal stories on screen to help the viewers understand the story after madisgrasya yung character ni Christine.”

He is the busiest pandemic director doing one film after another.

“Yes, kasi nung kai-start ng pandemic, andaming lumalapit sa akin, nagugutom, nangungutang kasi wala silang trabaho. One of the hardest hit kasi ang film industry.

"So sige-sige lang ako sa paggawa ng movies para  tulungan sila. Kasi kung hindi, andaming magugutom na taga-industriya. I’m just thankful na walang na-infect ng virus among the stars and crew of my movies.”
