ANGELA MORENA played supporting roles in “Sanggano Sanggago Sangguwapo 2” and “Kinsenas Katapusan”. She now plays a lead role in “X Deal 2”.
Is this a sequel to the first “X Deal” shown in 2011with Bench model Jon Hall, Jamilla Obispo and Paloma?
“No, it has the same director, Lawrence Fajardo, but this is a new version, “X Deal 2” with a new set of stars Rob Guinto, Josef Elizalde and me. Ibang-iba po story dun sa una.”
In “X Deal 2”, a young couple, Peter (Josef Elizalde) and Violet (Rob Guinto,) goes to a resort island for a pictorial with a client.
While on the island, they chanced upon Olivia (Angela Morena), Peter’s ex-girlfriend with whom he didn’t have a proper closure.
Violet then suggests to Peter that he spends time with Olivia so they can have a closure sex match.
In exchange, Violet also offers herself to Olivia, as she has felt that Olivia is also attracted to her. And so the three of them engage in a sizzling menage a trois.
We ask Angela how is it working with Rob and Josef in a sexy flick like this?
“Si Ate Rob, una kong nakilala sa acting workshops ng Viva for us newcomers. When I first saw the list of participants, akala ko kasi lalaki siya kasi Rob ang name niya, yun pala, girl siya.
"Naging close kami agad so I was so happy when I learned na magkakasama kami rito sa ‘X Deal 2’ as I really want to work with her.”
How about Josef?
“Mas matagal siya sa showbiz kaysa sa amin ni Ate Rob, so andami niyang tips na binibigay sa amin lalo na pagdating sa blocking. Parang naging kuya-kuya namin siya sa shoot.
"When it comes to the love scenes, pinag-uusapan muna namin nang husto ang mga gagawin namin in front of the camera.”
She prepared hard for her role as Olivia.
“I has to prepare kasi lead role ito. Isinapuso ko talaga ang acting workshops that we did to internalize our characters that we’ll portray kasi very challenging ang roles namin.
"It’s good na si Ate Rob, we are roommates so lock in shooting. Pinagtabi talaga namin ang beds namin para mas gumanda ang chemistry namin.”
Rob was really like a big sister to her.
“Andami kong natutuhan sa kanya, lalo na pagdating sa pag ibig, na kailangan talaga, matino yung lalaki at siguradong mamahalin ako. We became so close na naglalagayan pa kami ng plaster sa isa’t isa to cover us during the shoot.
"First time ko to do a lesbian love scene and I’m glad siya ang kaeksena ko as we feel comfortable na with each other. I enjoyed working with all of them, including direk Law Fajardo.”
Does the movie impart any significant message about relationships?
“Yes, sa bawat character, may makukuha kang lesson. Unang una na yung before you get into any deal, dapat na pag-isipan mo munang mabuti, kasi once na nakipag deal ka, you should be ready with all the consequences that might happen to you.”
So she doesn’t mind disrobing for the camera?
“This is a good start for my career, but I don’t see myself doing this in my entire career. I want to be versatile and later explore other characters and other films na iba-iba ang genre.
"I feel I have other things to offer than just baring my body. I even want to try doing contravida roles.”
Why didn’t she use her real family name like her sister, Stephanie Raz?
“Para maiba naman. I chose to use our Tita Lara’s family name kasi morena naman talaga ako. Also, I want to work with my Tita Lara. Sana mabigyan kami ng project together.
"She gave me memorable advice about acting: always prepare to make sure ready ka kapag isinalang ka and always do your best kasi hindi biro itong pinasok namin.
"I nearly drowned while we’re shooting this film sa dagat. Drone shot, so hindi ko naririnig na sumisigaw sila na masyado na pala akong malayo.
"Nag-panic ako when my foot can no longer touch the ocean floor. Mabuti na lang at nagawa ko pang makalangoy pabalik sa shore.”
