THE LAST MOVIE Sid Lucero did is “Smaller and Smaller Circles” where he played a priest in 2017. He was more active on TV, like in the recent “The World Between Us”.

Now, he is in the cast of two new Vivamax films, “Reroute” and “Silip sa Apoy”, that are shown consecutively.

We’re glad to see him active once again as no one can contest his acting talent. Early on in his career, he already won several best actor awards for the films “Selda” and “Muli”.

Now 38 years old, he’ll be playing father roles in ten years so he should take advantage of the remaining years of his youth when he can still play lead roles.

In “Reroute”, a suspense-thriller which is now streaming, he plays Dan, the husband of Cindy Miranda. They play a married couple having problems in their relationship.

When his father in the province gets sick, they have to go home and they hope that during their road trip, they will be able to iron out their differences.

“But something else happens along the way,” says Sid. “There’s a roadblock and soldiers told us to take another route.

"Then our car breaks down and we meet a farmer who offers to help us out, si John Arcilla as Gemmo. He takes us to his house and we didn’t know he and his wife, Natalie Hart, have a dark secret and our lives ni Cindy will be put in great danger so we have to fight back to survive.

"It’s nice working with someone like John Arcilla. We all know he’s Heneral Luna and he helps bring out the best in his co-actors.”

In “Silip sa Apoy”, he plays Ben, a taxi driver who brutally beats up his wife, Angeli Khang, whenever he gets drunk.

He is the most experienced member of the cast in this movie as Angeli and their other co-stars, Paolo Gumabao and Jela Cuenca, are all newbies in showbiz compared to him who first acted in 2006 in the movie “Donsol”, for which he won a best new movie actor award.

What can he say about his neophyte co-stars?

“They’re all wonderful to work with,” he says. “I might be the most senior among them but I treat them as my equals. I don’t go there sa set na ang feeling ko, magaling ako. For me, working in a film is always a team effort.”

He actually likes working with new co-stars.

“Just keep an open mind because there’s always something new to learn. I know I’m supporting newcomers in ‘Silip sa Apoy’ and I’m here to help usher them to get to know the industry better.

"That’s my purpose and I am here to support them on and off cam. You ask our director, Mac Alejandre, and he will tell you na magagaling sila.

"Wala nga kaming take two, e. Kung meron man, it’s because of me, kasi kung minsan nabubulol ako in delivering my lines.”

“Reroute” has started streaming on Vivamax on January 21  while “Silip sa Apoy” will be streaming starting on January 28. Don’t miss them.
