PAOLO CONTIS BACK TO PLAYING A LEADING MAN ROLE IN 'I LEFT MY HEART IN SORSOGON' THAT WILL REPLACE 'LEGAL WIVES' on NOVEMBER 15

PAOLO CONTIS is playing the male lead in “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon” that will start airing on Monday, November 15, to replace “Legal Wives”.

We’re happy for Paolo as he truly deserves it. We don’t really know why he forayed into playing villain and comic roles when he is most certainly leading man material.

In “I Left My Heart in Sorsogon”, he plays Mikoy Estrellado, the childhood sweetheart of Heart Evangelista as Celeste in Sorsogon.

But Heart left their province and became a famous fashion designer in Manila where she finds a new boyfriend, Richard Yap as Tonito.

When Heart visits Sorsogon many years later, she meets Paolo once again and sparks fly anew between them. So how is it working with Heart?

“I’ve worked with her several times,” he says. “First time was in the movie ‘Trip’ ng Star Cinema na magkapatid kami. That was exactly 20 years ago when we were still teenagers.

"But this is the first time na leading man niya ako. She has matured so much as a person and as an actress. She’s the leader, the host on our set. May mga ginagawa siyang bagay sa set para sa kabutihan ng lahat and we all appreciate it.

"Masaya naman kami sa lock in taping. Heart is so professional, she binds all of us, making sure okay kaming lahat and she made it all easy for us. Always earliest on the set, always ready, so di puedeng papetiks-petiks ka.

"Nakapag-bond kami lahat nang maayos. It’s a nice surprise na wala kaming stage at all na nangapa kami. Everything was smooth because of her.”

What can he say that he seems to always be in the news these days? “Oo nga, e.  Natutulog lang ako, nag-trending na bigla.”

He’s referring to the video of BTS member J-Hope showing a sculpture, created by an Australian artist, of a sleeping man who looks like Paolo. “I checked it kasi trending daw. And may point naman sila,” he says.

It’s good he doesn’t lose his cool with all the posts he’s getting specially after his break up with LJ Reyes.

Some folks say he’s more “sikat” now because he's always being talked about.

“Never naman ako naging pikong tao,” he says. “These past few weeks, never akong napikon sa mga lumabas about me. Yung sa BTS, masaya naman ako, okay lang yun.

"As for the kasikatan, yung nagte-trending ka, mas gusto ko yung nagte-trend ka dahil sa acting mo. You should be judge on your profession bilang artista ka. E ngayon, naninibago ako na kahit anong galaw ko, napapansin, nama-magnify.

"I don’t really enjoy it but tanggap ko siya as part of the job. Pero mas okay kung ang napapansin, ang trabaho mo, kaysa sa ibang mga personal na bagay.”

What does he remember the most about their taping in Sorsogon?

“Yung sobrang sarap ng pagkain nila. We’re blessed to have tasted everything. Pakain kasi nang pakain si Heart. Sa scenes ko naman, madalas nagluluto ako and ang sarap talaga.”
