VIC SOTTO is understandably very proud of his son Vico, current mayor of Pasig who is well loved for his dedicated service to his city.

Some people are urging him to run for president in the future when he’s of age, because of his firm stand against corruption.

“It’s nice to hear all the praises people give to him,” says Vic at the presscon of “Daddy’s Gurl”. “Kahit naman ako, naging member ng fans club niya.

"Hindi naman biro ’yung pinagdaanan niya. He’s setting a very good example on what good governance is all about, na pwede kang magpatakbo ng gobyerno na hindi nangungurakot. Hindi kailangang maging corrupt.”

He says people of Pasig are happy with Vico.

“Mas maraming nakikinabang ngayon sa Pasig. Mas madali ang buhay. Dati, yung pagkuha lang ng permits, kailangan, may under the table. Ngayon hindi na, online lang, makakakuha ka ng permit.

"He’s really setting a very, very good example at sana tularan, lalo na ng ating mga kabataan na gusto ring maging lider ng ating bayan.”

He is very proud of Vico as a father.

“Hindi lang ako, maski ang mga kapatid niya are proud of him. Actually, when he started to work in public service, noong una siyang magpaalam sa akin na tatakbo siyang konsehal sa Pasig, alam ko nang nasa puso niya na magsilbi sa tao.

"And I’m really praying for him to succeed in his fight against corruption. Basta meron kang strong political will, kaya nating ayusin ang gobyerno.”

He’s been working from home since the pandemic started, appearing in “Eat Bulaga” and “Daddy’s Girl” online.

“One benefit ng pandemic is nakita ko ang growth ni Tali (his daughter with wife Pauleen Luna). More than half of my life, I was working for my family.

"Lagi akong nasa labas. Sina Danica, Oyo (his kids with Dina Bonnevie), they grew up na most of the time, I was out working, shooting, taping.

"With Tali, nakita ko ang development niya and I discovered na okay naman pala akong tatay.”

He’s happy that “Daddy’s Gurl” is now celebrating its third anniversary.

“Kasisimula lang namin when the pandemic came. First, we didn’t know what to do. We had replays of past episodes. Then, nag-taping kami via online, na tinanggap naman ng tao.

"Now, via CGI, nagkikita-kita na kami sa set, salamat sa modern technology. And maraming surprises sa show as we celebrate our third anniversary.”

Since moviehouses are now allowed to open, will he be doing a new movie anytime soon?

“Naku, when it comes to movies, lie low muna ako kasi andami pang restrictions to shoot. Sana nga, matapos na ang pandemic para makapag-shoot na uli ng bagong movies. But as of now, sana naman hindi puro foreign films lang ang ipalabas nila.

"Bigyan din nila ng priority ang local films dahil napilay ang industriya because of the pandemic, so kailangang suportahan para makabangon uli. Kung magtutuloy-tuloy ang pagbabalik sa normal, hopefully I will go back to shooting films by next year.

"Nakaka-miss din kasing gumawa ng pelikula. So when things get better, see you again at the Metro-Manila Filmfest next year.”
