MAINE MENDOZA CELEBRATES THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF HIT SITCOM 'DADDY'S GURL' WELCOMING THE SHOW'S NEW CAST MEMBERS

MAINE MENDOZA is no doubt the busiest female star these days.

She has shows on no less than three different channels: on GMA-7 (“Daddy’s Gurl” and “Eat Bulaga”), on TV5 (“PoPinoy”) and on BukoChannel (“Maine Goals”). No other star can claim that. So how does she do it?

“Time management lang po yan,” she says at the zoom presscon for the third anniversary of “Daddy’s Gurl”.

“Yes, I feel so blessed to be busy with so many shows. Kahit minsan, it’s tiring and can be physically taxing, but thankful po talaga akong may trabaho ako.

"Lalo ngayon, panahon ng pandemya na maraming nawawalan ng trabaho, talagang pinahahalagahan ko po ito.”

Her dad in “Daddy’s Gurl” is asked how she is now as a comedian and Vic Sotto has nothing but praises for her.

“Maine has always been a natural actress,” he says. “Nagsisimula pa lang siya, kita mo nang may talent siya for comedy.

"And through the years, we all witnessed how she has evolved not only as an actress but also as a host.”

How does she feel about this?

“I’m speechless po. I don’t know how to react. Pero sobrang nakaka-flatter. But I still don’t consider myself as a magaling na komedyante.

"I still doubt kung nade-deliver ko nga nang tama what they require of me. Pero ang lahat, utang na loob ko kay Bossing and the Dabarkads kasi in working with them, they bring out the best in me.

"But the truth is, I’m still intimidated by Bossing. I think that’s part of his charm. Basta pag nandiyan siya, nako-conscious ka kung paano ka kikilos and you want to give your best.”

“Daddy’s Gurl” director Chris Martinez reveals some changes in the show on its third year. They will have fresh new episodes starting October 23. John Lapus is now also writing the script.

They are introducing new guys to be part of the show: Prince Clemente, Carlo San Juan, Prince Carlos and Jem Manicad. They will appear as the new boarders in Maine’s home.

Bossing will now be appearing live on the set, but via CGI only since he is still working from home.

And soon, they will introduce a love interest for Maine, although they won’t reveal yet the identity of the actor who will play this.

As co-producer of “Daddy’s Gurl”, Bossing Vic and his M-Zet Productions have approval of all the changes for the further improvement of the show.
