MISS GLOBE TITLE HOLDER ANN COLIS JOINS SHOWBIZ & SIGNS UP WITH DONDON MONTEVERDE'S VIRTUAL PLAYGROUND TALENT AGENCY

ANN COLIS won in the Bb. Pilipinas in 2015 (the batch of Pia Wurtzbach) as Bb. Pilipinas Tourism but it closed that year so she was transferred to Bb. Pilipinas Globe.

She was sent to Toronto, Canada and she won the title. She represented Mexico, Pampanga, stands 5’9” tall and was then 20 years old, a fresh graduate of management accounting from the University of Sto. Tomas.

She has now signed up to be a talent with Virtual Playground of Dondon Monteverde. How come she didn’t start her showbiz career right after winning Miss Globe?

“There was a management offer kasi right away in L.A. and I took the chance to start a career overseas,” she says. “I had a good experience as I was able to work with different brands.

"Then I also got to work in Europe. In  England, I was with BMA Models, and in Portugal, I was with Blast and Brandfire. I even became part of a Hollywood comedy-drama TV series, ‘Ballers’, with The Rock and Russell Brand.

"Three years ako abroad, then when I came home, there was an offer to do a series, ‘Fluid’, with Roxanne Barcelo where I played a lesbian named George.”

Why “Fluid” and why a Lesbian role?

“Doing Fluid is a challenge for me and I welcome it as I know I would learn something from it.  I also love the LGBT community.

"I come from beauty pageants and most of our supporters are from LGBT. So it’s my way of giving back to them.

"And I also like the show’s message, which is love is love. Whatever your sexual preference is, kung yun ang tinitibok ng puso mo, yun na yun.”

So why did she choose to come back to Manila?

“Unang-una, I miss my family here, specially my mom. At ang Filipino audience kasi, iba ang support compared to other countries. 100% sila kung magbalik ng suporta.

"And when I did ‘Fluid’ for iWant, I enjoyed the crowd and the environment. So I’m staying here now for good. I want to try my luck here and see what happens.”

Why did she choose to sign up with Dondon’s Virtual Playground?

“I like Dondon’s vision when it comes to artists and he has done lots of good films already. I like his plans for me.

"I am now about to take acting workshops to prepare me for my projects with them. I really want to try cultivate acting as I feel it’s something I can do for the rest of my life.”

So what will be her first project?

“I’m now reading scripts and they are pitching projects for me, but nothing is sure yet. Siempre, kailangang paghandaan ko muna.”

What’s her goal in joining showbiz?

“Since I was a kid, I really love films. I’m passionate with the arts, specially with performing arts.

"I want to be a sought after leading lady. I am sporty, so I’d love to do action. Sexy action film would be nice. Or something like ‘Buy Bust’ ni Anne Curtis.”

So she doesn’t mind going sexy?

“No, not at all. But the material must be good. I hope to work with the actors I really admire like John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Iza Calzado, the ‘Hen. Luna’ actor, I forgot his name... John Arcilla! And Paulo Avelino.

"Eventually, I want to further develop my acting skills and maybe win an acting award in the future.”
