DAVID LICAUCO FINALLY GETS TO PLAY LEAD ROLE OPPOSITE JULIE ANNE SAN JOSE IN 'HEARTFUL CAFE' STARTS AIRING THIS MONDAY

DAVID LICAUCO has been with GMA-7 for five years now. He finally gets to play a lead role in a teleserye opposite Julie Anne San Jose, the romantic comedy “Heartful Cafe” that starts airing this Monday, coming in after “First Yaya”.

Take note that all the teleseryes shown on GMA’s primetime slots now are all romcoms: “First Yaya”, “Owe My Love” and “Heartful Cafe”.

This should really come as no surprise since most viewers would rather just watch something light and hilarious these days when we are already facing lots of seemingly insurmountable problems because of the pandemic.

Why watch soapy dramas with plenty of screaming and slapping scenes and with troubled characters that will only make us more depressed, right?

David says “Heartful Cafe” is the perfect show to watch after dinner as it will lift up your spirits.

“Para lang kayong nagre-relax and having coffee with us,” he adds. “It’s about young love, very light viewing that will not give you any indigestion after dinner.”

David started his career as a model then tried acting in GMA’s drama series, playing supporting roles in soaps like “Mulawin Vs. Ravena”, “Pinulot Ka Lang sa Lupa” and “Kapag Nahati ang Puso”.

He also did guest roles in anthology shows like “Magpakailanman” (he was last scene playing Richard Yap in Ser Chief’s real life love story), “Tadhana”, “Dear Uge” and “Wish Ko Lang”. He also starred in a Regal movie with Shaira Diaz, “Because I Love You”.

Is he being marketed as a sex symbol? He’s always being photographed showing him without his shirt on and even in his undewear. He has a similar shirtless scene in “Heartful Cafe”.

“Walang magagawa kasi they ask me to take it off. But hopefully, eventually, I am praying people will recognize me not just for my body but also for my acting.”

So how is it working with Julie Anne San Jose in “Heartful Cafe”? “I was honestly surprised kasi akala ko, sa pagkanta lang siya magaling,” he says.

“I really admire her as a singer but doing the show with her, nalaman kong magaling din pala siyang umarte. You might think she’s just taking it easy, but once you both face the cameras, she gets transformed into the character she plays. She certainly knows her craft and how to act and react for the camera.”

He’s also amazed at her professionalism.

“I truly admire her work ethic. Never siyang na-late sa set at masipag talaga siya. Kahit dire-diretso ang trabaho, wala siyang reklamo. Her boundless energy is just amazing.”

He admits he has a crush on her.

“Yes, crush ko siya. Sino ba naman ang hindi magkaka-crush kay Julie when she has everything? Maganda na, talented at sexy pa.

"Kung wala lang talagang pandemic, I will invite her to go out so we can get to know each other as we’re both unattached now.

"E kaso, bawal lumabas, di ba? Bawal mag-date. So ngayon, chill lang muna kami. Let’s see what happens kapag bumuti-buti na ang panahon. Meantime, don’t fail to watch our show, ‘Heartful Cafe’, that starts airing this Monday night na.”
