PILAR PILAPIL ENJOYS PLAYING GABBY CONCEPCION'S IMPERIOUS & MEDDLESOME MOTHER WHO'S AGAINST SANYA LOPEZ IN 'FIRST YAYA'

PILAR PILAPIL plays Gabby Concepcion’s imperious mother in “First Yaya”.

She meddles with her son’s lovelife and wants him to marry the ambitious socialite, Maxine Medina as Lorraine. So you can imagine her consternation when Gabby falls in love instead with his kids’ lowly yaya, Sanya Lopez as Yaya Melody.

So she plays a villain role?

“Yes, contravida role ako kay Sanya kasi ayoko sa kanya,” she says. “As the mother of Gabby, who’s the country’s vice president then president, siempre I want somebody like Lorraine for him na mas sosyal.

"I just hope huwag sanang magalit ang viewers sa akin sa gagawin kong pang-aapi kay Sanya.”

The show was shot by locked in taping in Batangas because of the pandemic. It’s her first time to experience such a set up. So how is it?

“I loved lock in taping,” she says. “I enjoyed it more than the usual tapings in the past, kasi tuloy-tuloy ang trabaho namin.

"We’re all just in once place, so everyone is on time, no one is late, no waiting time, and our work goes on very smoothly.’’

How is it working with her younger co-stars like Sanya, Cassy Legaspi, JD Domagoso and the rest?

“Ay, okay ako with our young co-stars. Kasama ako sa barkada nila, sometimes I’m their counselor. Comedian din ako kasi pinapatawa ko sila. I love them, all our co-stars, as they’re a very nice group.

"Kasama pa nga ako sa tiktok nila. I enjoyed doing it, but I told them huwag nilang ipalabas, nakakahiya.”

It’s also her first time to work with GMA’s young director L.A. Madridejos. How is it?

“I appreciate Direk L.A. very much, kasi he’s very respectful and he’s always open to whatever suggestions that I may have. I have no problem with my relationship with my director and co-stars, and even the GMA producers.

"I was just excited to work with everyone. ‘First Yaya’ is something we are all proud. It’s very entertaining at hindi tinipid ng GMA ang production values.”

In real life, if she’s the mother of the head of our country like Pres. Duterte, what kind of advice will she give him?

“The advice that I can give him is probably to be just more careful in addressing the public. Knowing that we are a people of different ages and different ways of thinking, he should really be more careful when he addressses the public.

"At the same time, he should be aware of the people around him. The people around him must be people who he can really trust and the whole country can also trust.”

Don’t miss “First Yaya” when it starts airing this Monday after “24 Oras”, to replace “Anak ni Waray” that ends its run this Friday night.
