THE WACKY TANDEM OF ANDRE PARAS & SEF CADAYONA WILL MAKE 'GAME OF THE GENS' THE SHOW TO WATCH ON SUNDAY EVENINGS ON GMA NEWS TV

ANDRE PARAS is elated to be chosen as a host of the new game show, “Game of the Gens”, on GMA News TV to start airing on Valentine’s Day at 7:45 PM.

“Gens” stands for generations, not generals, as it will be a show pitting the younger generation with the older ones in answering trivia questions. The top prize each week is P300,000.

Andre is hosting it with Sef Cadayona and he’s just too pleased to work with Sef.

“Sef is one of the most talented, greatest guys in showbiz kasi he’s a great dancer, a great comedian, a great actor and I look up to him because of everything he has done,” he says.

“It’s nice to host an original game show with him na lodi ko and I’m very thankful to GMA that they chose us to do this. We will be with the trio called Miss Tres, now to be called the Gen Dolls. We’ll all make the viewers very happy.”

Sef says in turn that he’s actually the one who looks up to Andre.

“Sobrang tangkad mo kaya sa’kin sa 6’4” na height mo, kaya ako ang nakatingala lagi sa’yo at ikaw naman, laging nakatingin sa ibaba,” adds Sef as they really look like the odd comic duo called Mutt and Jeff.

“But really, hosting ‘Game of the Gens’ is a big blessing for me and Andre. Ang ganda nga ng pasok ng 2021 sa amin and I’m very happy na si Andre ang ka-tandem ko rito. Maganda ang banter namin dito.”

Has Andre any personal experience relating with oldies?

“Oh yes. Una na ang dad ko (Benjie Paras). I’m 25 and he’s 52, so doble ng age ko ang age niya. Ako ang tumutulong sa kanya when it comes to using modern technology.

"E, di ba, dahil sa pandemic, ang meetings ngayon, puro zoom na lang? So, ako ang umaalalay sa kanya when he’s having zoom meetings and online conferences, kasi hindi pa siya masyadong sanay.

"Ako ang nagpo-post ng meeting ID at passwords for him. But I tell him na makakaya niya rin yon eventually on his own.”

Despite his showbiz career, Andre has not abandoned his dream of being a professional basketball player like his dad. He has applied with the PBA or Philippine Basketball Association to be a rookie draft.

“Mid March pa raw ang draft, so I hope that everything goes well para makapasok ako. But of course, hindi ko iiwan ang showbiz.

"I’m thankful to GMA for supporting me sa PBA. Napagsasabay ko naman ang taping and basketball training as they both make me happy.”

What if he’d be asked to choose just one career?

“At this point, I really don’t know what to answer as, like I’ve said, they both make me happy. Bahala na, what will be, will be.

"Kung one day, makita nyo na lang ako on the court, then that means I chose basketball. Kung wala naman ako roon, then I chose showbiz.”
