'THE LOST RECIPE', AN ENDEARING FANTASY, TIME TRAVEL, LOVE STORY WITH DELICIOUS DISHES THAT WIN THE HEARTS OF LOTS OF VIEWERS

THE BIG CAST OF 'THE LOST RECIPE' with MIKEE QUINTOS & KELVIN MIRANDA

MIKEE QUINTOS and Kelvin Miranda have reason to rejoice.

Their first show together, “The Lost Recipe”, is not only the numero uno show in GMA News TV Channel 11 now, but it is also getting super positive feedback from the viewers.

Produced by GMA News and Public Affairs, many people have messaged us saying they think it should have been shown on GMA-7 instead. “The Lost Recipe” is a combination of fantasy, drama and love story.

Kelvin plays Harvey, a chef who opens his own restaurant. He wants to be the top chef in the land but his work got a very bad review from food expert Waldorf (Gabby Eigenmann.)

This puts his restaurant on a bad light and this, plus his father’s death and a fight with his brother, makes Harvey turn to booze.

In a food museum, he meets a magical lady, Dulce (Kim Rodriguez), and with the help of a mysterious book, he gets to travel back in time in 1892 looking for the perfect recipe for adobo.

This is found in the El Adobo restaurant during the Spanish times, made by a cook named Conchita (Manilyn Reynes), the queen of adobo who has a lovely daughter, Consuelo (Mikee Quintos).

He steals the recipe from Conchita’s recipe book and he is swallowed back by the book and returned to the present time.

In the present, Harvey is working with a young chef named Apple (also played by Mikee) who looks exactly like Consuelo and their lives get connected. Mikee is perfect for her role as a perky young woman full of zest and energy.

This show is very timely as many young people now want to take up the culinary arts in college and be a certified chef. Many scenes offer a lot of tips about high cuisine and cooking.

When we were young, most of our colleagues wanted to be a nurse or a medical technologist as it will increase their chances of working abroad.

Now, most young people want to be a chef so they can work in a classy hotel, or be a cook in a cruise ship, or put up their own restaurant. That is, until the pandemic came.

Anyway, the show also gives us the chance to visit various touristy places in Manila. It also offers good visuals of the delicious dishes it offers and the walled city that is Intramuros.

Thanks to Director Monti Parungao, it likewise has good special effects and is generally pleasing to the eyes, like it’s influenced by Korean dramas.

It’s definitely a very pleasant alternative to the usual soaps that center on heroines that are “inaapi”, babies that were stolen from their mothers, peppered with acts of revenge and endless kidnappings. “The Lost Recipe” is shown Monday to Friday at 8 PM on GMA News TV Channel 11.
