LOVI POE ENJOYS DOING LIGHT ROMCOM, 'OWE MY LOVE', TO START AIRING ON GMA TELEBABAD ON FEBRUARY 15

LOVI POE has a new teleserye and it will be GMA-7’s special post-Valentine offering as it starts airing on GMA Telebabad on February 15 to replace the repeat of “My Korean Jagiya”.

This is “Owe My Love”, an endearing romantic comedy that is a play on words on the usual expression “Oh My Love”, but this time it’s spelled as “Owe”.

This is because the series aims not only to entertain viewers but also to impart some important learnings about financial literacy and knowing how to handle money wisely.

Lovi is named Pacencia “Sensen” Guipit (the Tagalog word ‘gipit’ means someone who is in financial dire straits) and her leading man Benjamin Alves plays a celebrity doctor named Doc Miguel “Migs” Alcancia (“alcancia” is the vernacular word for piggy bank).

As you can see, their names alone already indicate some hilarious possibilities relevant to the show’s title.

Supporting them are Ai Ai de las Alas as Lovi’s boss named Vida Morales, Winwyn Marquez, Nova Villa, Jackielou Blanco, Leo Martinez, Ryan Eigenmann, Ruby Rodriguez, Pekto, Brod Pete and Patani Dano (who replaced Mystica after she had some disagreements with the staff and other cast members.)

The show will feature three other comic pairs called “utang in tandem”: comedians Divine Tetay and Terry Gian, Kiray Celis and Buboy Villar, and Jelai Andres and Jon Gutierrez.

They’re all guaranteed to keep the viewers in stitches with their rib-tickling antics, perfect for relaxing evening viewing.

Lovi says she’s so happy to be given the chance to do a comedy after a string of dramas.

The show will also serve as Lovi’s special natal day presentation as she’s celebrating her birthday on February 11.

“This is much lighter than the first teleserye that Benjamin and I did, ‘Beautiful Stranger’, about five years ago, na sobrang heavy drama at nabaliw pa ko’t naging taong grasa,” she adds.

“This time, tiyak na matatawa ang viewers sa dami ng comedians na kasama namin sa show. Aside from ‘Beautiful Strangers’, Ben and I have also done two movies, the horror movie ‘Guniguni’ sa Regal and the Cinemalaya film ‘Sana Dati’, kaya we already feel so comfortable with each other.”

Off cam, it’s an open book that Lovi is happily in love with her U.S. based beau, Montgomery Blencowe.

She spent the last Christmas holidays in the U.S. with him and his family who’s visiting from the United Kingdom, but she returned to Manila quickly after the yuletide season as she had to resume the taping of ‘Owe My Love’.

“I just took a short break last December to spend Christmas with him and his family,” she says.  “It’s nice kasi iba yung Christmas traditions nila sa atin and I’m so glad I was able to experience yung mga ginagawa nila.

"Being in a long distance relationship can be tough, lalo ngayong it’s so hard to travel because of the pandemic. But with the distance, mas lalo naming nami-miss ang isa’t isa and he makes an extra effort to make me feel special kahit we’re so far away from each other.”
