RITA DANIELA & KEN CHAN OF RITKEN LOVE TEAM PLAY THEIR MOST MATURE ROLES TO DATE AS HUSBAND & WIFE IN 'ANG DALAWANG IKAW'

IT’S OBVIOUS that the Rita Daniela-Ken Chan love team, now known as RitKen, is one of the most prized tandems of GMA-7.

After their pairing clicked by surprise in “My Special Tatay”, they were quickly given “One of the Baes” and also paired as co-hosts who will chronicle the journey of the contestants in the three seasons of “The Clash”. They are also together doing production numbers in “All Out Sundays”.

Now, they get to play their most mature roles in the psychological drama, “Ang Dalawang Ikaw”, where they will play husband and wife.  Ken is really so blessed to be assigned the most challenging roles.

He was a transgender when he was given his first starring role in “Destiny Rose” and a mentally challenged young man in “Special Tatay”.

Now, in “Ang Dalawang Ikaw”, he will play someone afflicted by the malady called dissociative identity disorder or split personality.

Of course, he won’t be the first actor in the Kapuso network to play this kind of role as Jennylyn Mercado has played a similar part in “Rhodora X”.

“I’m so excited by the role but, siempre, kabado rin, kasi panibagong challenge ang ibibigay nito sa akin,” says Ken. “Nagre-research na nga ako tungkol sa disorder na ito.

"Magiging very demanding for me to play a character na may dalawang magkaibang katauhan. But with Rita there to help me in our scenes together as my wife, Mia, I am quite confident na maitatawid ko naman ito nang maayos.”

Rita says it’s also a big challenge to play the role of the patient and understanding wife.

“In real life, hindi ko ma-imagine kung ano ang gagawin ko kung magkakaroon ako ng husband na may dalawang magkaibang katauhan,” she says. “Nakakaloka siguro.

"Dito, ang isa pang challenge, dalawa kaming babae sa buhay ni Ken kasi may other woman siya, to be played by Anna Vicente, kaya mas naging complicated ang takbo ng story.”

Supporting them in playing equally important roles are Dominic Roco, Jake Vargas, Joana Marie Tan and Starstruck discovery Jeremy Sabido.

Aside from “Ang Dalawang Ikaw”, Rita and Ken have also just finished a full length movie, “Huling Ulan sa Tag-araw (Luis Loves Luisa)”, directed by Louie Ignacio and shot lock in style in Pagsanjan, Laguna.
