SHARON CUNETA EXPLAINS WHY SHE'S ABSENT FROM SOCIAL MEDIA, MISUNDERSTANDING ON DEATH OF HER FAN MISTAKEN TO BE WRITER REMY UMEREZ

WRITER REMY UMEREZ WITH DANIEL FERNANDO

SHARON CUNETA’s fans noticed she has been absent in her social media accounts for weeks and so they asked her why she had no recent updates. Sharon answered them later with a video posting:

“Hope you are all okay. Going offline for a bit. Socmed/mobile phone detox muna. Sorry if I’ve been absent, but I’m okay, I’m just resting, head, body and soul. Sorry if I’m not texting or replying. Love you all and God bless you. Miss you all. Keep safe!”

Later on, she posted a message that a former president of her fans club in the late 70s died. His name is Remy Ramirez. She wrote: “I feel like I just lost another part of my youth. Maraming-maraming salamat sa pagmamahal at loyalty mo sa akin. Mahal na mahal kita.”

Someone then reported that the one who died is writer Remy Umerez, who wrote a column for “People’s Journal”. The fake news got to former editor Crispina Belen, who then called Remy right away on his cellphone and Remy said the rumor about his death is totally premature.

Remy Umerez told us to write here that he is still very much alive and kicking! He said: ”What a bad joke! I just celebrated my birthday on October 1. Ang nagagawa nga naman ng Covid 19 sa isipan ng mga taong kulang sa dasal.”

So it’s clear: the one who died is Remy Ramirez, a fan of Sharon Cuneta, not Remy Umerez, the writer here at PJ.
