HALLOWEEN IS FAST APPROACHING AND IT'S THE SEASON OF STORIES ABOUT CELEBRITIES ENCOUNTERING SCARY PARANORMAL EXPERIENCES

HALLOWEEN is just around the corner, so it’s understandable that we now start hearing stories about celebrities having frightening paranormal experiences, like Kim Chiu allegedly being visited by a “tikbalang” while she was shooting a scary movie.

The horror flick is intended as a Halloween presentation so this is undoubtedly a part of their promo. This will not be shown in theaters but only online and they will charge those who want to watch it.

For sure, this will be a test case if this kind of movie-watching would work for moviegoers in this season of the pandemic.

Those who are joining the Metro-Manila Filmfest online will more or less gauge with this if they have good chances of getting their return of investment in this manner. Personally, our feeling is that people would still prefer to watch in moviehouses.

Moviegoing as a ritual involves not just the actual watching of movies on the big screen but the whole idea of going out of the house as a family for a change of scenery and in order to relax in the mall, watch a movie and also eat out.

The real horror story for producers is if movie-watching online would turn out to be a big flop, since most local moviegoers are now used to free streaming channels.

On TV, for sure, TV shows like “Magpakailanman”, “Jessica Soho Presents”, “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, “Wish Ko Lang”, etc. will have special Halloween presentations featuring stories on the occult like ghostly apparitions, possessions and what have you.

To be honest, we no longer get terrified with all this kind of shows and movies the materials of which are now all very familiar.

What is actually much more scary in real life is going out of the comforts or your own home, only to be infected by the virus and afterwards, you cannot even get yourself admitted in any hospital because they are already full of patients! Now, that’s the real horror story!
