THE NEW MISS UNIVERSE PHILIPPINES FRANCHISE NOW HELD BY SHAMCEY SUPSUP TO AIR ON GMA-7 ON OCTOBER 25

MS. SHAMCEY SUPSUP-LEE, FRANCHISE HOLDER OF MISS UNIVERSE PHILIPPINES.

THE MISS UNIVERSE franchise is no longer with Bb. Pilipinas Charities of Stella Marquez and is now handled by former Bb. Pilipinas Universe Shamcey Supsup, who's now married to Lloyd Lee.

It’s currently known as Miss Universe Philippines and despite the pandemic, they’re pushing through with the search for the next representative of our country in the prestigious annual pageant.

Their coronation night will be held this coming October 25 online and will be shown on GMA-7 as the carrier TV station.

"It's going to be a combination of online and actual pageant," says Shamcey Supsup-Lee, national director of the Miss Universe Philippines Pageant who says they are instituting strict safety protocols.

She adds: "We came up with the Ring Lights series, it's an eight episode series wherein the pageant fans can witness the journey of our candidates from their training to the lessons that they learned through the journey.

"And there will also be lots of fun activities like for makeup, for runway. Eventually on the finale, you will be able to watch the coronation night of the first-ever Miss Universe Philippines."

Shamcey said they are aware that staging the pageant amidst the pandemic is a very big challenge.

"In any circumstance in your life, there are hindrances, maraming adversities that you have to face but it doesn't mean that you have to stop dreaming. So, we wanted this to be a venue of hope that there is an end to the crisis we're experiencing right now. That this too shall pass.

"We still have to continue on reaching for our dreams. The candidates will have to come to Manila, but two weeks before the pageant’s coronation, they will return to their respective provinces and then just come back here for the big night.”

But will there be a Miss Universe abroad at all this year?

“”Tuloy-tuloy ang communication namin with the Miss Universe mother organization and yes, tuloy-tuloy rin ang Miss Universe preparations nila. It’s a heads up and we will just have to wait for their announcement of the final date of the pageant.”
