DINGDONG DANTES PROUD OF AWARD 'DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN' GOT IN KOREA, WILL START TAPING NEW EPISODES COME SEPTEMBER

DINGDONG DANTES & CO-STARS IN 'DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN'

DINGDONG DANTES is excited with the announcement that they will resume taping fresh new episodes of his primetime show, “Descendants of the Sun”, starting on the first week of September.

There will be 12 straight days of nonstop taping with all the cast and crew locked in one location, to make sure that everyone will be safe from the dreaded virus.

How did his wife Marian accept that he will be away from their family working for 12 days?

“She understands and she’s very supportive,” says Dong. “Inihahanda na nga niya lahat ng kakailanganin kong dalhin sa taping. Siempre, we’ll miss each other.

"Lalo na ako, I will miss our kids Zia and Ziggy kasi matagal ko rin silang hindi magkikita. Pero tiis-tiis muna kasi trabaho ito and we have to make sure we’re all safe.”

Before they begin airing the new episodes, there will first be a rewind of previous episodes to refresh the memories of the viewers as to what happened before the show was disrupted by the corona lockdown.

Dong and the rest of the cast are also all so proud because their show, DOTSPh, has just brought honor to GMA Network when it won the Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year award in the coming 15th Seoul International Drama Awards.

It is the very first Philippine TV program to receive this recognition from the annual global festival. The primetime series was included in the list of winners together with two other foreign dramas, ‘Snowpiercer’ produced by US broadcast company TNT and ‘The New Pope’ produced by Sky Atlantic and HBO.

The prestigious award ceremony selected GMA’s Pinoy version among several remakes that originated from the KBS drama aired in South Korea in 2016, highlighting the infuence of K-drama not only in Asia but also around the world.

DOTSPh, which premiered last February 10, is headlined by Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado as alpha team leader Captain Lucas Manalo and cardio-thoracic surgeon Dr. Maxine Dela Cruz, otherwise dearly known as ‘Big Boss’ and ‘Beauty’ respectively.

Completing the star-studded cast are Rocco Nacino, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Antonio Aquitania, Ricardo Cepeda, Paul Salas, Jon Lucas, Lucho Ayala, Prince Clemente, Pancho Magno, Renz Fernandez, Chariz Solomon,

"Andre Paras, Nicole Donesa, Reese Tuazon, Jenzel Angeles, Bobby Andrews, Neil Ryan Sese, Ian Ignacio, Carlo Gonzales, Roi Vinzon, Hailey Mendez, Marina Benipayo,directed by Dominic Zapata.

This year’s festival will be held on September 10 at MBC Media Center Public Hall without an audience for safety purposes.

Meantime, Dong’s new business, the delivery app called Dingdong PH, is all set to start rolling soon. It aims to help TV and movie industry workers who lost their jobs because of the lockdown.

“I recognize that my first career is show business, and my strength lies in telling stories and realities through my craft. This time, with Dingdong PH, I will be able to share stories of our merchants, who we intend to grow with;

"our riders, who we want to uplift and professionalize; and our consumers, who have been more discerning because of the new normal. I am likewise just grateful to have my dream team with me to turn this shared vision into reality.’’
