MAX COLLINS will be giving birth to her and actor Pancho Magno’s son in July and she has decided to give birth at home.

“Ready and excited na kami with home birth delivery kasi nakakatakot kung sa hospital, what with the corona pandemic now going on,” she says is an online interview with her and Pancho.

To prepare for it, they took on line classes while at home.

“Bale one month din kaming nag-on line class on gentle birthing and home water birth. So, since we kind of know how to go about it, what we need is a pool at home.  And then, siyempre may iba pang kailangan, but other than that, we found a doula or a health worker assisting us at childbirth, plus a midwife who will help in facilitating the procedure.”

What will Pancho’s role be during the delivery? “Runner, support,” he says. “But I took up nursing before I joined showbiz kaya I’ve experienced na rin kung paano magpaanak. Ilang beses ko nang nakita nang first hand ang pagde-deliver ng isang baby, kung paano ito lumabas from the mother’s womb, which is sobrang nakaka-proud.

"Sa lahat ng moms sa inyo diyan, I’m super-proud kung paano n’yo ginagawa ‘yun. And now it’s our turn to deliver our own baby na kami mismo ang gumawa. So, pag-pray na lang natin ‘yung pagsisilang sa baby namin. Kung gagawin sa house, magiging malaking tulong talaga ang lahat ng prayers ninyo.”

Aren’t they afraid to have a baby born amidst this worldwide health crisis affecting us all at the moment? “Mahirap sabihin, pero for us, it’s a perfect time to have a baby, eh. Kasi mayroon kang quality time para sa kanya.

"Dahil walang work, walang tapings, magkasama kami lagi ng wife ko the whole time. Kasi, kapag may work na ako, wala na ako sa bahay. Siya na lang mag-isa, wala siyang kasama mag-alaga ng baby namin.”

Pancho is part of the new TV series “First Yaya”, with Gabby Concepcion and Marian Rivera, but taping has been stopped due to the corona lockdown. Max is not accepting any acting assignment until their baby is a bit older so she can really focus on taking care of their child for a while.

The baby will be the second grandchild of GMA VP for Drama Redgie Acuna Magno, the mother of Pancho. Her first grandchild is from her daughter who is based in Melbourne, Australia. Max and Pancho’s baby will be a boy.

“We have already chosen a name for him but we will reveal it na lang kapag ipinanganak na siya,” Pancho and Max say.
