MYLENE DIZON was absent at the grand launch of “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit” so GMA hosted a special press visit just for her. “Isinugod ko kasi ang panganay ko sa ER that day dahil sobrang taas ng lagnat at hindi ko maiwan kaya hindi ako nakapunta sa presscon,” she says.

She wants to take a rest from soaps after doing “Sahaya” so she can devote more time to her two sons, but when “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit” was offered to her and she learned she’d get to co-star with Nora Aunor, she grabbed it right away.

“Paano mo naman tatanggihan yung chance na makatrabaho ang isang aktres na hinahangaan ng lahat?” she says. “My own mother is a Noranian. I remember seeing all those fan magazines my mom bought then and she’s on the front cover.

"Marami rin kaming napanood na awards nights on TV na siya ang best actress, so when they offered me this project, no questions asked, yes ako agad. She’s one of the country’s greatest actresses and I want to see the magic for myself, happening right before my eyes.”

So how is it acting with Ate Guy so far? “It’s just amazing. When we shot our first scene together, hindi ako nakasagot sa kanya agad and I found myself just staring at her. I’ve watched many Nora Aunor films and I just couldn’t believe that I’m now really doing a scene with her. It’s such a great experience.

"Totoo yung sabing may baon siyang ilaw sa mga mata niya and when she delivers her lines, the power comes out and it’s surreal. She’s very friendly. In between takes, kinukuwentuhan niya ako at ni Ricky Davao about their experiences in the past. Nakakatuwa.”

Did she get to watch the original “Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit”?

“Unfortunately, no. But I was told she played two roles in that movie, that of Magnolia and Maggie. Dito sa TV remake, I play Magnolia while Maggie is played by Kyline Alcantara. Siempre, they have to update the material for today’s audiences.

"Bale story ito ng tatlong babae. Me, Kyline and si Ate Guy nga as my mother, Cedes, na may sarili ring journey sa series. Kaming tatlo, may kanya-kanya kaming sariling kuwentong susubaybayan ng viewers.”

In her story as Magnolia, she was abandoned by Zoren Legaspi while pregnant with Kyline. Her dad, Ricky Davao, was mercilessly killed by the henchmen of Zoren’s mom, Isabel Rivas, then her own mom, Ate Guy, accidentally killed Zoren’s dad, Dante Rivero, so she becomes wanted by the law.

Mylene’s life will eventually get better  with the help of Gabby Eigenmann and her businesses will prosper so she will seek revenge against Zoren and his family.

Mylene now lives with her family in Silang and her “gulayan” (she doesn’t want to call it a farm) was affected by Taal Volcano’s ashfall.

“Namatay lahat ng mga tanim kong gulay. One inch kasi ang ashfall, so binungkal ko uli at nagtanim ako ng panibago. I really enjoy planting and knowing I can provide food for my family. Nagre-research ako about organic farming and I don’t use fertilizer.

"I also get up in the morning to kills all the insects that eat my plants. Ayoko kasi gumamit ng insecticide. It’s a great experience and I now have the highest respect for our farmers.”
