LOVI POE is celebrating another milestone on February 11 and she’s happy to be neck deep with work right now. After a long vacation last year when she took some acting courses in the U.S., she’s now busy with so many new movies.
She’s in “Latay” with Allen Dizon, where she plays a ferocious husband batterer. The movie had its world premiere in two international film festivals held in India and Italy.
She’s in Viva’s new romance, “Hindi Tayo Puede“, where she figures in a unique and unconventional love triangle story with Marco Gumabao and Tony Labrusca, as directed by Joel Lamangan. This would be released in March.
And in ABS-CBN Dreamscape’s “Malaya“, a love story, she is paired with Zanjoe Marudo, directed by Connie Macatuno and filmed on location in Basilicata, Italy.
On TV, she was last seen doing a guest role as the young Dina Bonnevie in the pilot week of GMA-7’s primetime show, “Anak ni Waray Vs. Anak ni Biday”. And we heard GMA-7 is also preparing for her a new teleserye where she will play the lead dramatic role.
Lovi had no inkling that her manager, Leo V. Dominguez, has cooked up a surprise party for her when she entered Frazzled Cook at Sct. Gandia.
She was visibly astonished when she entered the venue and it was so full of people greeting her a Happy Birthday, including Directors Joel Lamangan, Jay Altarejos, Manny Valera, writer Ricky Lee, her own sister Sen. Grace Poe with son Brian Llamanzares, plus Dina Bonnevie, Benjamin Alves, Tony Labrusca.
And what’s Lovi’s birthday wish?
“Everything is doing well for me now so, sana, magtuloy-tuloy lang. My wish is for things to get better for all of us kasi the year started ominously with Taal erupting, then there’s the threat of the corona virus, and Kobe dying, Naks, first name basis, akala mo close kami. But really, nakaka-sad, di ba? So I hope everything will be better in this love month of Feb-ibig.”
She feels lucky that all her leading men in her three new movies are all good.
“Nakaka-inspire sila katrabaho kasi ang gagaling nila, like Allen Dizon as my battered husband in ‘Latay’. Pareho kaming nagkakasakitan sa bugbugan scenes namin, lalo siya, kasi totohanan ang mga sampal at hampas ko sa kanya. Si Zanjoe naman, we shot in Italy, ang sarap katrabaho. And also Marco and Tony sa Viva, ang gagaling nila pareho.”
Everyone knows she’s now on with a U.S.-boyfriend, Montgromery Blencowe. Will he be coming to Manila to celebrate her birthday with her on February 11? “Hindi siguro. He’s so busy kasi.”
So they’re having a long distance relationship? How is it working for them? “So far, okay naman. Kahit LDR kami, we have the technology naman to be able to communicate constantly. With the internet, parang nandiyan lang siya sa tabi mo. So no problem.
"We get along fine because he is an old soul with a good heart, ibang mag-isip. And I love it that he understands my job. Kahit nagpapa-sexy ako sa movies, he knows it’s just part of my job as an actress.”
Have they considered settling down? “No. We haven’t even talked about it. Bago pa lang kaming nagkakilala, e. As of now, we’re just enjoying what we currently have.”
