JEREMIAH TIANGCO is proclaimed the grand winner in “The Clash Season 2” after a grueling 13-week journey. This was held at GMA-7 last Sunday night, with Jeremiah winning a house and lot, P1 million cash and managerial contract with GMA.

We made the correct prediction when we wrote here that he’s our best bet. Our second bet, Thea Astley, wins as his runner up. They faced each other as the final two clashers after besting out the other three finalists: Nef Medina, Jennifer Maravilla and Antonette Tismo.

While Jeremiah and Thea are standing side by side on stage while waiting for the final winner to be announced, we can’t help but notice that they have good chemistry together. It would be wise for GMA-7 to pair them off as a love team.

As of this writing, we learned that their fans have already formed a tandem for them on Twitter, called JerThea, and it’s now trending. That’s a good sign that viewers approve of them being together.

GMA-7 wasn’t that successful in pushing the career of the first season winner, Golden Canedo. She has yet to really make a big name for herself and here already are the two standouts in Season 2 who can easily overtake her. For one thing, both Jeremiah and Thea have better PR, unlike Golden who was sitting just a few seats in front of the press during the finals show and yet never acknowledged their presence.

But the truth is this Season 2 batch is really much better than the first one. As we’ve already said before, they’re younger and better looking. They can also include in this batch Aljon Gutierrez, the Mark Bautista lookalike who was eliminated last Saturday night, as he also shows a lot of promise and also already has lots of fans.

With the new Sunday noontime show of GMA-7 coming up this new year 2020, these six talented Season 2 discoveries are already assured of having a regular outlet for their talent.

In all fairness to the other finalists, they were all impressive doing their own numbers last Sunday night: Jennifer Maravilla with “Para Sa’yo ang Laban Na’to”, Antonette Tismo with Whitney Houston’s “Run to You”, Nef Medina with “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now”.

Thea did “Greatest Performance of My Life” and “Natural Woman”, but it’s really Jeremiah who brought the house down with his knockout versions of “I Believe I Can Fly”, “I Set Fire” and Fantasia Barrino’s “I Believe” which he made his own as a soul/gospel singer.

We sincerely believe that Jeremiah and his batch mates have the potential to hit it big in showbiz and can branch out into acting. It’s now all up to GMA Network as to how assiduously they’d push the respective careers of these very talented new discoveries.

Meantime, it will be a real merry Christmas for Jeremiah and his family. An only child, he’s elated that he now has the money to send a cousin he’s helping to go to college and, more importantly, he will ask his seaman dad (for 19 years now) to resign from his job in a ship so he can come home and be with their family now.
